I'll never understand why people say "I can't see the Packers losing to...". It's a one game series (with an oblong ball) not a best of seven. They can lose to anyone in any given week. Be glad they're the clear favorite because they're the one team that gets next week off and they play their remaining 2 NFC games at home.

"Anyone can beat anyone, may the best team win!" makes for an awfully boring week between games.

Well you should have seen the rest of my post before the someone edited half of it out. :laughing

Me when AB released a statement telling his side of the story from last weekend: "Hmm. I can see Arians doing that. Maybe there's some blame to go around here? Maybe he had a right to be ticked off?"

Me after hearing AB talk twice in the last week with his own words and not a statement released by him representatives: "Ah, nevermind, he's just completely insane."

NYT did a good job of making a flow chart for each team and where they will land based on the game results. Very well done.

I’ve always thought of 300 TD passes as a ‘gold standard’ for the modern QB. That’s basically 30+ TD passes for 10+ years. You have to be pretty good to throw 30 TD passes in a season and you have to be consistent to start in the NFL for 10 years. John Elway ended his career with 300 TD passes on the dot and only 12 other QBs have surpassed that total. Now with just about every rule change in the last 40 years favoring the offense, is 400 TD passes the new 300? Probably, but 300 is still a lot.

Tom Brady currently has 621 career TD passes. He has thrown for more than double the amount of TD passes that John Elway did in his 16-year career. I know that’s not apples-to-apples, but that’s still nuts to me.

That’s like the same level of ridiculousness as John Stockton holding the NBA career records for steals and assists, despite being retired for 20 years and modern careers lasting much longer. Stockton has over 15,800 career assists. The next closest is Jason Kidd with about 12,000. Chris Paul and Steve Nash each have <11,000.

That says a lot more about Elway than Brady. He is massively overrated as an all time great due to going out with the 2 SB’s.

The 2 SBs no doubt help Elway’s legacy, but he also had 146 career wins (6th most all-time). There’s no denying he was a very good QB.

He was OK. I just meant using him as comparison for how amazing Brady's stats are and how the passing numbers have changed seems inappropriate although I think maybe that he has exactly 300 was why you used him. He is way behind contemporaries Marino and Young in most stats and also trails clowns like Jeff George, Ken O'Brien and Hostetler in passer rating. Montana was also much better just didn't play as long. If you look at Marino as the benchmark and the time he did it Brady's stats don't seem so amazing. Playing at the level he is at 44 is pretty amazing though.

Nice of the NFL to add this extra week to the season so that we get to watch these preseason games in prime time.

I was told last Sunday that these Saturday games would have playoff implications.

They kind of do, just for seeding purposes. There was only 1 game this week between direct competitors, and that got the Sunday night slot. In addition to that, I think there were only 2 other games between playoff teams, with the next closest being the ravens and steelers who both need the colts to lose to the jags to get in. So basically the pickings were slim for prime time games.
