This Bears/Vikings game is utter trash. Gods help us.

Yet somehow it's been highly entertaining just watching the trainwreck unfold in a way for both sidelines - I can totally see the Bears going into MN week 18 and ruining the Vikings season if they still have a postseason chance...thinking the vikes are going to have tough sledding the next few weeks though.

Nagy and Pace have to be canned at the end of this season, right?

Do we care if the Vikes make the playoffs?

I doubt the bears have much of a chance against them even if they didn't have half the team out with covid.

I think their game in 2 weeks will be close. The Vikings are wildly inconsistent, but have the talent to give the Packers fits.

Their win over the Bears keeps them alive, but they likely still need to win next weekend against the Rams, and the weekend after against the Packers, not to mention Week 18 against these same Bears, to make the playoffs. This Vikings team is pretty much trash.

I thought the refs in last night's bears-vikes game were as awful and inconsistent as the teams playing, and that led to things being more chippy than they otherwise would have been. They made some bad unnecessary roughness calls against the Bears that gifted the Vikings the game even with the bears' offense imploding whenever they got inside the 20.

Anyone know if Thielen is close to getting back on the field? If not I don't see how the Vikings win 2 of their last 3 games and have a shot at a playoff spot - their oline is a mess and defenses can roll coverage to keep Jefferson in check if Cousins doesn't have a ton of time to find him downfield.

They're the final playoff team as it stands today, so I doubt they need to win out,. Probably safe if they lose a game, maybe two.

I disagree. They are in a cluster of teams huddled around the same record. A couple of those teams will finish strong. If the Vikings lose one of their final 3, it will put them at 8 losses, and make the playoffs tough. 9 losses and they are toast, unless every other team with around a .500 record epically collapses.

I personally kinda hope they make the playoffs, though. Zimmer is a terrible coach, and the longer his tenure can be prolonged there, the better as a Packer fan.

Of all the teams muddled in that 7-7 record area in the NFC, the Vikings have the most difficult remaining schedule with having both the Rams and Packers left on their schedule. They might find a way in going 1-2, but odds are they will need to go 2-1 and even that may not be enough depending on how Washington finishes. I think the only reason the Vikings have the tiebreaker over the Saints is win % in NFC games - which they will likely give up with the Saints playing Carolina and ATL yet. Plus I think WFT moves back in front of the Vikings if they beat the Eagles tonight.

If the Vikings lose to the Rams this coming weekend, then everything probably sets up for that Sunday night game at Lambeau to be the dagger loss that kills their season and potentially results in a house cleaning - in a perfect world that includes dumping Paul Allen and all his schtick so I don't have to listen to him around here anymore, but one can only be so lucky.

Re the refs, they really don't have much choice. The NFL has made up way too many rules to protect the players. I'm glad they have made an effort to make things safer and I think the vicious, unnecessary hits have pretty much been eliminated. But now we're calling penalties on defenders who are trying to tackle a guy at the hips but wind up hitting the ball carrier in the head because he lowered his shoulder or defenders who stumble into a QB after he throws the ball. If that's not bad enough these penalties are affecting the outcome of games.

Generally agree with all of this...I'd hate to add more time to games with reviews, but honestly I think one way to try and correct some of these bad calls that tend to either prolong drives or reverse game-changing turnovers/big plays is to give each sideline the option to challenge some of these 15 yard low hit/defenseless receiver/unsportsmanlike penalty calls. Give a rules official in the box the opportunity to watch a hit or play in slow motion to see if the contact that resulted in a flag in real time actually was against the rules. This would be 1 challenge per game, with the opportunity to keep that challenge provided a coach is right and a call gets reversed.

Multiple defensive penalties called on the Bears last night were simply not penalties that this type of booth review would quickly overturn - and those calls on the field directly resulted in extending the scarce Viking drives that actually led to points on the board.

There was an egregious one on a Bears defender yesterday where he dove to tackle Cook behind the line of scrimmage (and made a terrific tackle), but they called an unsportsmanlike penalty for a "low block" because he dove around Brian O'Neil, who was Cook's lead blocker on the play. Just an abhorrent penalty to call there.

All of the MVP talk should probably include a Cooper Kupp mention or two. Dude is gonna have a historic season. He won't win but should get some votes

One can only hope Nagy and Pace are retained. As well as Andy Dalton.

Something needs to be said on Rodgers MVP case that the offense is having long long drives this season running the clock and giving him less plays to put up big yardage. I don't know how many pass attempts he had yesterday but certainly not the 48 or so Brady took. When comparing the stats their needs to be some NBA type Per stat(I know Im not fully right but NBA fan would know)that Giannis is always atop off. I'd find it tough to believe Brady would be ahead of Rodgers in that stat.

Brady has an astounding 161 more pass attempts than Rodgers. Talking 10+per game. On the average yards per attempt Rodgers is ahead 7.9 to 7.2. When adjusted(off profootballreference) Brady's adjusts to 7.6 while Rodgers' goes to 8.9.and obviously ARod has the better TD-Int ratio. While GB has more rushing yards as a Team, Tampa has the RB with the most yards. So I hope this doesn't come down to higher yards and TDs while less efficient and less wins on season in Bradys favor.

Very weird play in 49ers/Titans game.

49ers have it 3rd and 11 near red zone. Titans jump offsides on snap. Because of the jump, the offensive lineman loses the pass rusher and reaches out and grabs his face mask to protect his QB. He's flagged of course.

Well, not only is it a penalty, but the face mask penalty actually causes the offsides to be declined automatically by rule, so it's not even offsetting. Now it's 3rd and 26.

The Niners concern me more than the Rams, Cardinals and Cowboys combined.

After watching them against the Titans I tend to agree that defensive front seven with our banged up offensive line could ruin the day.

They definitely have some talent but I don't think garoppolo is ever going to be much more than he is right now.

Dalvin Cook tested positive and is out for 10 days, which is gameday at Lambeau.

There goes the Vikings' gameplan of ramming Cook into the line 32 times. Of course they'll just do that with Mattison now. Zimmer's coaching philosophy is straight out of 1987.

As I recall, Cousins passed for about 350 yards against us a couple weeks ago. Cook had a decent game, but Cousins shredded us going repeatedly to Jefferson and Thielen.
