So the Packers have a game to spare correct? They could lose a game and still have #1 seed regardless of what anyone else does?

No, Dallas has a better conference record than the Pack does, so they’d be the 1 if they finish with the same record. We’re big Cardinals fans in a couple of weeks when they play head to head.

True. Dallas has lost to two AFC opponents (Broncos and Chiefs).

Don't give Brady the MVP trophy just yet...

Brady has 36 TDs to 10 INTs with a 100.4 passer rating and a 10-4 record. Rodgers has 30 TDs to 4 INTs with a 110.4 passer rating and a 11-2 record. Brady, however, does have nearly 1,000 more passing yards than Rodgers.

Sorry, but Rodgers is clearly better than Brady and I'm biased or whatever, but I'm pretty impartial when it comes to this sort of thing. Nobody actually watching those 2 play this season could logically conclude that Brady is better. I don't think Rodgers has a chance at MVP this year due to fatigue + Covid fiasco.

The interception Brady threw last night typified the difference between those two guys for me. Get Brady moving and he is useless if forced to throw off balance. It is a throw that Rodgers makes in his sleep. What Brady has done in the twilight of his career is incredible but Rodgers is still making every throw.

Brady is also throwing to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Scottie Miller. Rodgers has Davante and a few Scottie Miller types. Brady also has Gronk and Cameron Brate. Both are better than anything the Packers have at TE. Tonyan are Brate are pretty comparable, but of course Tonyan is hurt. Brady also has a reinvigorated Fournette and a good backup RB in Ronald Jones Jr. Comparable to the Packers' crew of Jones and Dillon. Maybe a slight edge to the Packers there.

The Bucs have done a better job than the Packers surrounding their QB with top-flight talent.

And the Packers online has basically zero of their preferred starters.

Jones and Dillon are definitely a step up from Fournette and Jones Jr.

I'll agree that Brady has a better receiving corps, but one only need to look at last night when his guys went down to see how he fared.

in contrast, look at Rodgers game against AZ without Adams and MVS when he still got it done on the road against a 6-0 team missing his top 2 wr.

Exactly. If anyone thinks that Rodgers isn't having an MVP-caliber year, they aren't thinking clearly. Based on play alone, he should likely be a shoo-in for the award.

But as OSS mentioned earlier, there are other extraneous factors at play ... some of which of course are Rodgers' own doing. But I think if the Packers manage to win out and secure the #1 seed, he'll probably get it. Unless Jonathan Taylor runs for 600 yards and 6 TDs the next three weeks.

Rodgers will have a hard time winning a 4th MVP until he wins a second Super Bowl. It’s the same reason why Giannis didn’t win a 3rd MVP last year. Now that he finally broke through, I think he wins more awards.

Taylor probably wins the MVP because no QB is running away with it, but the All-Pro vote for QB will be interesting.

This is where I am. Brady would likely win it because he threw 40 last year and didn't get it, then won the SB. They "owe" him one for what he did last season. Rodgers has fatigue going for him, and they had no choice last year with the stats he had. He'd have a better chance of winning it next season if he was good again and they win the SB this year.

I think you have to look at Taylor now, too. If he has some nice stat padding down the stretch here I do think he gets it by way of no Madden-esque QB this season.

if the colts win out, take the division. and he gets around 1900 or so yards, I think Taylor gets it. he won't get it if the colts don't make the playoffs.

if the Packers take the 1 seed and Rodgers is still sporting a 110 or so qb rating, he's gonna be hard to ignore. last night hurt Brady a lot (imo of course)

Yeah Dallas would be in drivers seat had we blown that one yesterday and I think now are the only team that could pass us at 13-4. But have to like the odds on either Packers winning out or Dallas losing one. Yesterday was a good day.

For MVP I think Rodgers gets it if they get the bye but of course needs a good statistical finish as well. It will be close though and maybe the COVID thing loses him some votes.

Wasn't that supposed to be one of the disqualifiers with Burnes for Cy Young, too? I think if Rodgers goes off the next couple weeks and winds up at least having to start the final game to get 16 games worth of stats, and they wind up getting the top NFC seed for the playoffs, he should repeat as MVP and it really isn't a discussion.

Specific to the MVP discussion, I think he's still a dark horse candidate but Herbert would be even more deserving had the Chargers won a couple more games they should have - he is having a really great year both throwing and running the ball.

Not that a WR would win this season, but Kupp, Davante, and Jefferson are having WR years that should warrant some MVP votes as well - particularly if one of them blows up the last few weeks.

Derrick Henry probably would have had the best chance of anyone had he not gone down a few weeks ago.

There's a decent chance Rodgers doesn't play the final week if we don't need to win.

Which is a plausible scenario, FTR. Though Dallas has the conference record advantage now, they have three conference opponents left. If they drop one of the next two, which they absolutely could, and we win both, week 18 is irrelevant and we get the Jordan Love experience #2.

Giving Rodgers two weeks to heel that toe, plus giving Love more experience, definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.

The toe thing doesn't seem to be hindering him too much. He looked pretty darn spry yesterday.

[sarcasm]Just remember kids: When Aaron Rodgers chews out a young receiver, looks to the officials for a penalty flag, and throws a tablet on the sideline, it's because he's a giant baby. But when Brady does it and also tells the opposing sideline to go "eff" themselves - that's generational leadership.[/sarcasm]

So on point. Rodgers has historically been torn apart for doing exactly what Brady did last night…..

I think Taylor should be the MVP and it shouldn't matter if his team makes the playoffs or not. Neither Rodgers or Brady are having that NFL QB MVP type of a year. If Taylor gets to 20-25 rushing TD's and 2,000 yard rushing he should be the automatic MVP pick.

The next closest RB to Taylor in yards is about 500 yards short of Taylor in Mixon.

If Herbert were more accurate with his passes he would probably be the MVP this season. Stafford is also having a great year and is only behind Rodgers by 2 pts in rating and there is plenty of games left for the Rams who are still fighting for the division to make up that difference and also put up more stats than Rodgers where the Packers could have the division won if the Bears win tonight and the #1 seed if the Cowboys lose 1 game. Rodgers could be sitting out partially on week 17 and not playing week 18.

If Rodgers sits out week 18 and the Rams are still playing for the division in week 18 then I could see Stafford bypassing Rodgers and winning the MVP on that final week. I won't count out Brady winning again or JT winning it but I think Stafford still has a chance to win MVP. But if JT gets 2,000 yards rushing and 20+ rushing TD's then I just can't say any QB in the league was better than what JT did.
