Chiefs have been unbeatable since half the forum decided Jordan Love's career was over.

technically true, but if the Chargers opted to kick a few FGs early in that game instead of going for it that was an L last night. Mahomes had a very uneven game but made some big plays at the end with the help of a tired Chargers' defense that ran some ill-advised man coverage behind a gassed pass rush. Joey Bosa had a brutal game last night - seems like whenever he was on the field the only thing he did was leave his pass rush gap and allow Mahomes to get out of the pocket and buy time for Kelce and Hill to run free for a big play.

KC's defense has been playing really well after they looked like hot garbage to start the year, so they at least don't have to score 40 to win a game...they are probably going to be the team to beat in the AFC again this postseason, but to me that entire conference is full of decent teams but there are 2-3 NFC teams better than all of them.

I think people may be living in yesterday with Meyer. He's got a few black marks now. The whole draw of a big name college coach is recruiting. I don't know that Meyer still has that kind of pull anymore. After a scandal, dancing with some lady at the bar and losing a bunch of games...it sure would not surprise if he's right back in it again, but I also wouldn't be surprised if programs just find it easier to stay away.

Yeah my point was that Love and the Packers performance that game looks much better hindsight than it did at the time, when they were shut down by a "mediocre" struggling KC team that is now likely going to win the AFC again. Until last night, no QB had really done anything against them, and they played a few good ones. If they played them next weekend with Love in the same circumstance, I think most would forecast a total bloodbath.

Browns v Raiders to Monday

...meaning the Browns will play the Packers coming off 4 days rest / recovery on Christmas Day.

I mentioned to one of my co-workers over lunch that the Browns could very well have a different set of players out for that game, assuming we're talking about the new & high transmissibility COVID variant.

There will be 3-5 different NFL teams next week in the same situation the Browns currently find themselves in - Packers could just as easily be one of them. Posted in the Packers-specific thread that I think there's a decent chance that Packers/Browns game get pushed back a day just to give Cleveland an extra day between games for rest and travel (not to mention followup COVID testing), too.

I know it's probably because those were the stations those teams were going to be on, but interesting that both of Tuesdays games are same time on fox. Would have been nice to be able to flip between the games.

Remember what Yoda said:

Selfishly, this means now the Packers game will be on tv here so at least there's that. I've got a number of reasons to have disdain for Seattle, but perhaps none more important than the fact that they get on tv over Green Bay here.

Colts up 10 with 5:38 left in the game and on their own 43 yard line go for it on 4th and 1. I doubt Michael Lombardi will sing their praises afterward.

Nice to see JT house the dagger from 75 plus with just over 2 minutes to go.

Really starting to wonder if Taylor actually does have a legitimate shot at MVP.

29/170 and a TD today. Nice game. For the season he's at 270/1508 and 17 TD's. I think the thing holding him back from really, really serious MVP consideration is the Colts 8 - 6 record. If they win out, he might sneak in there. He's having a monster season, for sure.

Also, not a big fan of that workload. He's not going to have a lengthy career at this level toting the rock this much.

One thing I will say is even when he was playing for the Badgers he was so quick that he was able to avoid taking very many big shots.

Braylon Allen is going to have a much harder time staying in the field with that size and guys constantly going after his ankles.

I know many will disagree, but I think we'll reach a point in the COVID sports world perhaps as soon as 2022 (particularly if Omicron and other future variants do indeed prove to be more mild strains of the virus), where we are just going to have to say, "Are you up to date on your vaccinations? Are you feeling fine? Then we are going to assume you're fine and we're not going to keep testing you regardless of who you've seen or where you've been. If you're feeling sick, we're going to test and treat just like we would for any other sick person or illness."

We should already be doing this.

Well, now we are.

The Giants sure do spare no expense for their fans on Fan Appreciation Day at MetLife.

https://nypost.com/2021/12/17/giants-mocked-for-giving-free-soda-for-fan-appreciation-day/

The syrup bag for the sodas for the whole stadium for the year probably cost about as much as one season ticket.

I was curious, so I googled it haha. You can get about 200 20 ounce sodas from a 5 gallon syrup bag. Those run about 80 bucks. So if every single person in MetLife gets a free soda today, they'd need about 400 bags of soda, so about 33K worth of syrup. That's a lot of syrup. However, given the insane markup they put on the sodas and drinks and stuff in general at stadiums, it's still nowhere near a net loss. What a cheap stunt.

...meaning the Browns will play the Packers coming off 4 days rest / recovery on Christmas Day.

Lack of preparation time aside, that just seems downright dangerous to Browns players.

I wasn't a fan of adding a 17th game and it's just getting ridiculous the physical toll the NFL is putting on its players.

RE: Free medium sodas for Giants season ticket holders

I get how it lends itself to easy jokes, but a free soda is a free soda. We’re talking about the biggest sport in the US in the biggest market in the US. They don’t have to do anything for the money train to keep rolling.

How is it any different than playing on Sunday and then Thursday?
