Jets/Bengals, Bengals defender aims to tackle Jets ball carrier at the hips. Jets ball carrier lowers his shoulder into the tackler and they hit helmet to helmet. Personal foul called on the defender. I'm all for player safety but this is stupid.

That was a terrible call. Are officials just going to call helmet to helmet penalties on defenders by default now?

Does a penalty need to be called every time? There was noting malicious about that play, it was just football stuff that happens.

What irks me about it is the offensive player initiated the helmet to helmet and penalized the defender for it.

I'd be totally ok if the officials started looking at those plays and flagged or even fined the offensive players who lower their helmet and don't give the defensive player any target to hit/tackle other than the helmet, or even use their own helmet as a weapon/battering ram to gain extra yards. It goes both ways.

Yep, we're officially on 0-17 alert. It would be a beautiful thing to achieve such a feat in this the first ever 17 game schedule.

I don’t want to see a division rival get first crack at a franchise QB.

Doesn't matter what QB the Lions get, they are missing the franchise half of the equation.

Go Cowboys????

I'd actually pull for MN. Unless something goes critically, functionally wrong, there's no way the Vikings catch us. It helps the Packers more if the Cowboys catch a loss here or there.

Well we still have 2 games against them so there is that. Not worried but I would rather win division and clinch a home game first in the new expanded playoff world.

Vikes LOL

they're done - remaining schedule is brutal....

@ Baltimore (east coast) nooner

@ San Diego (west coast)

Packers

@ san fran (west coast)

on top of that they've got Steelers, Rams, and @ Packers in December/early January.

The Packers may have the division clinched before the calendar reaches December if they take care of business.

Per Adam Schefter via Twitter:

Titans’ RB Derrick Henry suffered a potentially season-ending foot injury during Sunday’s 34-31 win over Indianapolis, sources reported ESPN. Henry is undergoing an MRI today to determine the full extent of the damage.

Big blow for the Titans.

I still don't understand how Zimmer survived last year. A defensive coach that loses his defense makes one question how he stays in his job.

I predicted that the Vikings would implode this year and that the Bears would overtake them. Well, 50% right.

The talking heads on Fox9-Minneapolis last night were livid. The sports announcer had to remind one of the panelists that they were on live TV, so no swearing. Best thing I watched on TV yesterday. :laughing

I always loved listening to the Viking whine line on KFAN after crucial losses like this when I lived in the Cities. Just looking around at some internet stuff this morning plenty of calls for Zimmer to be fired. If you can't beat a backup QB at home it doesn't bode well for the rest of the season but I would guess he gets the chance at 3-4 to turn it around and make the playoffs. He has been there too long, unless you win a Super Bowl you just need a fresh start with new coach as the message gets stale. I thought Zimmer would be gone last year too.

Zimmer survived last year because their GM survived, somehow.

Don't get me wrong, Spielman has made some good picks in the draft - but every GM does if he's given 10 seasons at the helm. They don't have the depth along the Oline (which is improving with recent draft picks but also had nowhere to go but up after several awful seasons) to really take advantage of elite skill position talent, and the same can now be said of their defensive front 7 causing their weak secondary to be exploited by good offenses.

I've mentioned it before - they've got enough skill position talent to win a few games they probably shouldn't, but their lack of depth and inconsistency/poor game management will wind up with them losing a few games against terrible teams or in spots like last night where they were playing at home against a solid team without its starting QB. I see them finding a way to that 8-9 or maybe 9-8 no man's land record, which in this division is good enough for 2nd place because the Lions are awful and the Bears are a poorly-managed train wreck, too.

Rams traded two 2022 draft picks for Von Miller. So here are their current draft picks for 2022:

Round 1: Traded to Lions

Round 2: Traded to Broncos

Round 3: Traded to Broncos, still own a compensatory pick (via Brad Holmes hire)

Round 4: Traded to Texans

Round 5: Own

Round 6: Traded to Patriots

Round 7: Own & Dolphins’ pick

I think they are going for it :)
