The Patriots releasing CB Stephon Gilmore in a surprising move today. It makes a ton of logical sense for the Packers to at least make a call, especially given Jaire Alexander's injury.

That said, I 100% expect Gilmore to be a Buc before the end of business today.

According to "over the cap", GB actually has more available cap room at the moment than Tampa (~$7.2M vs $3.5M), but if Gilmore is truly looking for that last big bite of the contract apple he didn't get in New England, there are some other more likely destinations that have more cap room and also aren't a dumpster fire of a team for him to consider going to a contender. Thinking Carolina, Denver, Cincy, Seattle, San Diego...

Agreed it's at least worth kicking the tires, but frankly I'd rather save that cap room to try and work an extension for Jaire towards the end of the season. Gilmore is 31 and Green Bay already has big cap problems heading into 2022 so I doubt it's a fit. It also sounds like there isn't a shortage of teams already lining up, so somebody is going to pay him more than what the Packers can offer.

Tampa does desperately need help in the secondary after all their injuries - I just don't see them having enough room financially to bring him there unless Tom Brady sells Gilmore his wife's yacht for $1 to let him resell for a crazy high profit off the field.

To me, the odd thing about Urban Meyer is that he didn’t get back on the plane with the team after a hard loss. Chasing tail might be a transgression in his marriage, but that incident (Meyer sits down at bar, girl tries to get Meyer to dance, Meyer taps girl on the butt) isn’t that bad in a vacuum.

I'm not sure it was just a tap, though the video was unclear. I also like that there is a mural in the bar that includes a picture of Meyer and his wife.

Agreed that not flying home with the team isn't getting enough attention. They're 0-4 in his first year on the job. Probably not the best time to take time off.

Being called out by the team owner and being laughed at by players is the ultimate humiliation in a sport that prides itself on being extra manly.

I don't think that he signs a multi year deal while we are in the middle of a season that he was too injured to play in so far. Think the most likely scenario is that he signs with a contender to finish out this year, hopes to play well, and sign a multi year deal this off-season.

Odd day in the NFL with Jaylon Smith being released by the Cowboys too, after he served as a captain this weekend.

It is a big deal because he is an NFL coach...I mean he should be a little smarter than this knowing cameras will be around him. I mean it is his bar...people are certainly going to recognize him. Lets be real here though, most 56 year old men probably dream of that happening to them. Plenty of married men go to strip clubs and get more action than that.

I think whole team had the weekend off after playing on Thursday night, didn't they? Possible they scattered in all directions after that game, Besides, no one outtwerks Urban.

I can't speak to what most men would do, but I would pass on Urban's night every single time.

Instead of being released, ESPN is reported he is now traded to the panthers for a 2023 6th.

Urban Meyer got traded to the Panthers?

Oh. Gilmore from the patriots. I didn't realize that convo had bleed into the packer thread.

More of a random NFL thought: Russell Wilson has a shot at breaking into the Top 5 in a lot of major career categories (completions, yards, TD passes, etc.) because he has started EVERY game of his NFL career. 147 out 147, including 16 as a rookie.

Russell Wilson out 6-8 weeks. Goodbye, Seattle's playoff hopes.

The Packers play the Seahawks on November 14.

It’d be nice to catch a break. I hope Russ heals up, but not before then. I don’t feel too bad knowing that teams got to beat up on the Packers in ‘13 and ‘17.

Jets being dumb and not kicking the fg after the bug completion and timeout with 35 seconds left, and now a sack.

And now they will kick the fg and have wasted 13 seconds and their last timeout.

it was a series of emails over a seven year span. And I'm guessing there are a LOT more that were never made public.

LOL. Fired over that 2/10 on the offensive scale email from TEN years ago.

I'll take convenient forced resignations for $500, Alex.

Did you read the article? It was many emails over the course of years, not just one, and included a ton of misogynistic and homophobic comments.

The NFL and ESPN have plenty of people around who knew Gruden was a racist, misogynistic homophobe, and said nothing about it.

He's only out now because it went public. Had it remained private, he'd still be the same terrible person, but he would be employed.

Gruden made the homophobic comments, but he coached a team with the first openly gay player. Let's face it, there probably aren't many if any males that grew up in the 70's or 80's that didn't use the "g" word.

He called Goodell a "clueless anti-football P"... many people believe the same of Manfred in baseball without using the colorful language.

*Removed political content*

Deep down I don't think he's a racist or a homophobe. I believe some of his social skills are of a 12 year old in a 58 year body. He works around men with similar stunted social skills of whats acceptable in the 21st century.
