Does anyone read ‘Ask Vic?’ It’s an NFL Q&A column by a retired Packers’ media employee who also worked for the Jaguars and covered the Steelers earlier in his career. He predicts the Packers will eventually go to a domed stadium because the year-round entertainment potential outside of 10-12 football games is too important for a team / city to pass up:

Not a chance. The Packers have built a whole brand around the "Frozen Tundra". There is no way they sacrifice that. Zero chance of building a dome in Green Bay.

I think there’s still a non-zero probability they go deep into the suburbs and build a larger indoor stadium with another ‘Titletown’ district.

City Stadium lasted 31 years. Lambeau Field field was around for 43 years before the $295 million renovation started. It’s been 18 years since the renovation was completed. It’s not unreasonable to think we’re having uncomfortable conversations about the future of Lambeau Field in 15 years.

No way they consider it for decades. They didn’t invest all that time/money into titletown to leave.

In 15 years, they could sell the entire TTD for a substantial gain. The fixed investments are not an obstacle. In 2011, this team sold pieces of paper with the team logo and raised $60 million.

Again, I think they stay put in Ashwaubenon and continue to play outdoors, but history tells us we’re due for some uncomfortable conversations about the future of Lambeau Field in 15 years. I can all but guarantee the 0.5% Brown County sales taxes comes back at some point.

Speaking of poverty franchises, the Browns just scored a TD right before halftime to seemingly tie the Vikings 7-7. On the ensuing PAT, the Vikings called a 4th timeout (which they didn’t have) and were flagged for delay of game. The Browns opt to attempt a 2-point conversion from the 1-yard line and now lead 8-7.

And that was after a defensive holding on 4th down to give them another chance.

And then the vikings went 3 and out, got the browns in a 3rd and 20 and hunt ran for 33 tards on a draw :laughing Browns got a field goal and get the ball coming out of the half too. All this happened in the last 1:30 of the half.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

McCarthy and the Cowboys with a nice win today. Road Zeke too.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

New England ran for -1 yards, turned it over twice and still had a game winning FG doink of the post to lose in the last minute. Mac Jones played very well.

new England's commitment to refusing to run the ball was very mccarthyesque.

To be fair, nobody runs on the Buccaneers even when teams give it 20-30 carries of effort - and that goes back quite awhile

They have the best set of linebackers in football. Fast as hell.

Are you suggesting the uncomfortable conversations would also include the Packers leaving Green Bay? If so, who would be making that push? Admittedly, I am not as familiar with the business of football but the Packers already sell-out every game and have a season ticketholder wait list that could fill the stadium twice so what would the benefits be to a new home?

We’re speaking purely in hypotheticals here, but that at some point in the distant future, the Packers might want some combination of more luxury seating and ability to grow team revenue (like the Titletown District).

The team has been riding a near 30-year wave up popularity, but what happens if the Packers go dormant and can’t find a franchise QB? If you swap their fortunes with the Lions, what happens to that waiting list or interest in visiting Lambeau?

Back in 2000, I specifically remember the scare tactic - ‘vote for the sales tax or the NFL will move the Packers to Milwaukee.’ It’s not inconceivable to think we could be having that discussion again some day (although I doubt they leave Green Bay in my lifetime, if ever).

As much as I loathe football, I do love stories like the Urban Meyer one. Reports are that he's a laughingstock in his own locker room. Good times!

That hire was a mistake from the get go. Even if he had not embarrassed himself like he did, he would be one and done after this season.

To me, the odd thing about Urban Meyer is that he didn’t get back on the plane with the team after a hard loss. Chasing tail might be a transgression in his marriage, but that incident (Meyer sits down at bar, girl tries to get Meyer to dance, Meyer taps girl on the butt) isn’t that bad in a vacuum.

Don't see how the Packers land him even without any knowledge of their financials. He was unhappy with his contract and I don't think the Packers are a team looking for a longer-term solution at CB with Stokes and Alexander around. Packers are probably limited to young no-names and vets looking to hang around for 1 more season.

Gilmore is 31, so he's getting into that "vet looking to hang around" time. I imagine he will try to latch on with a contender for a solid 1-year contract this year, then look to cash in one more time on a longer term deal this offseason if he plays well.
