The Patriots have gone crazy. The list just keeps on growing of players bought. It will make it all even better if they stink next season. Either way, it makes for something to talk about.

Hooray. I'm not sure Dalton is better than Trubisky. Or, at least Trubisky has SOME upside.

If Trubisky were a 2nd round pick and not the guy they took instead of Mahomes and Watson, he'd probably have signed an extension. He's clearly better than Dalton IMO and like you said, at least he offers some upside.

Physically, he's pretty solid.

I can't wait for that heated Dalton/Foles camp battle for the starting spot....followed by the firing of the entire front office sometime around Thanksgiving.

I'd have to imagine this signing would point to the Bears going after their franchise qb in the draft this season....or tanking badly enough for their next few 1st round picks to look high enough for the Seahawks to trade them Wilson next spring. After their roster has had another year to age past its competitive window without a really good quarterback.

Apparently, the Bears' Super Bowl odds got worse after they signed Dalton.

This might be a stealth tank move.

Funny news today that the Bears may need to part with CB Kyle Fuller for contract/cap reasons. Funny in that the Packers were the ones that signed him to an offer sheet, requiring the Bears to match the contract. There were a lot of people that thought the Packers signed him to a deal that was too friendly and allowed the Bears an easy decision to match it.

And in the end, the way the Packers structured it may result in the Bears needing to cut him. Circle of salary cap life, apparently.

Wow, that's right. I had completely forgot about that. Wouldn't that be something if end up signing him?

I just remember the Bears pretty much immediately said they were going to match(but then waited the full 7 days to limit the Packers ability to make other moves).

It would be nice to see the Bears have to cut him and the Packers get another bite at that apple. He's at his best playing man also(or so a PFF write-up on him from a couple years ago says). If so, that would be a nice fit on the other side of Jaire. Probably out of our price range, but the later it is, the more teams will have used up cap space.

Well the Bears were close in getting Wilson before they signed Dalton. Carroll nixed the trade he was the final person to sign off on the trade and didn't.

That is just crazy to me. Why a team like Seattle would even consider trading Wilson. That so many on the org could agree to it.

I really don't want to hear any more stories about how Rodgers is a Diva. Not that I think Russ is, but he's been more of one this off-season than Rodgers ever has been.

Rumor is (via Dan Patrick) that Chicago offered 3 firsts, a third, and "two starters" for Wilson. He didn't get names on the 'starters'. That's a tempting deal that most teams would have to seriously consider, though I agree that when you have your QB, it's borderline insane to give that up and potentially throw yourself into a Bears-like QB situation where you're constantly looking for 'that guy'.

I just saw that report AND it also said they gave Seattle a list of players and Mack and Hicks were both on that list. So if that's true, 3 1st, a 3rd, Mack...ok, now I can see it!

If that's true and Mack was actually part of that deal...I guess you turn around and deal him and try to rebuild quickly. I would have to assume he's still worth at least a 1st if not 2. I know players are available at any price, I just couldn't believe there would be a price that would make sense for Seattle to trade away such a great QB who's also so beloved by the City. I now believe I saw that price. Wilson should look at that as a pretty clear sign they want him back very badly.

That is not what Wilson was concerned about. It was the offensive line and the play calling that he is concerned about. The Seahawks have barely invested in their offensive line only the Bears really have a worse offensive line than the Seahawks do but the Bears have been signing free agents and drafting guys here and there. I think the last time the Seahawks drafted an offensive lineman early was back in 2017 and they haven't drafted an OL lower than the earlier than the 4th round since. Very little has been done to protect Wilson and that is his biggest gripe with the team and also the offensive play calling he has an issue with along with Carroll's sons basically getting nothing but free passes.

When Wilson first spoke, he said he wanted to be more involved in the decision-making as well. I know it was mostly about the hits he's taken and his protection, but I took that to mean he felt undervalued. Even if that's not the case and I'm interpreting his words too much...I guess that is still telling. These guys have big Ego's and they want to know they're wanted.

It is a little crazy to me how little they invested in their OL. I remember going back through their drafts and the last high pick they used was on Britt as a tackle...and he ended up being a Center. So I understand his frustration.

I did not realize that he was a cult figure in Green Bay! Also a little surprised that he would push Goff for the starting role this year. I guess I missed the Tim Boyle Experience by living out of state.

Boyle's highlight reel speaks for itself. blue

Is it plausible if not likely that the Lions are doing this (and Williams) to obtain intel on the Packers' offensive scheme?

I kinda doubt it. Both signings make sense and the Packers scheme is out there. It's make FAR more sense to just hire an intern who worked with the offense in GB, SF, LA or other teams who run the same scheme.

Williams is a very solid back and while Boyle was NEVER anything even approaching a "cult figure," he is a nice young QB who has the size, can move a bit, and has a strong arm. I wouldn't be the last bit surprised to see him play 10 years in the NFL and have a year where he starts 5-6 games and is competent.

Plus...it's not like Detroit is building up to beat the Packers this year.
