Brewers sign Jackie Bradley Jr. (2-year/$24M with player option after first year.)

Yah...I am okay with them not locking up 2 or more guys like Yelich. Actually, I wish we didn't even have Yelich locked up like that.

If Stearns uses payroll consistently on short term deals (one you literally just called team friendly) instead of risky and in the end poor 4+ year deals, who cares? I just want it to actually work.

Sounds like you want the past where Attanasio controlled the payroll and signed the likes of Lohse/Garza/Suppan/Ramirez/etc. While I don't think it was as bad as some make it...it certainly didn't lead to much success. Honestly, you could argue it led to no success as most of that type of signing happened post 2011.

Can we now put to bed any notion that this team won't spend money or has no money? That has been strongly disproved.

Though I like this signing, for me anyway, this doesn't tell me or show me the Brewers won't spend money. It's a two year deal with an opt out after 1 at 12 million/yr. VERY team friendly. To show me they are willing/can spend money I would need to see some long term deals..3 years minimum(preferably 4-5) for Free agents before I'm inclined to think they will spend $$. No, re signing Yelich doesn't count(in my book). Now get 2 or more other guys locked up like that, THEN I will be convinced they spend money.

"No, this doesn't count...THIS doesn't count either..." you sound like an older brother that lost.

There has been a mountain of evidence in regards to the Brewers being open to spending money but there is still the crowd that will try to be the loudest complaining that they don't. It's tiresome but it is what it is.

Our defense is going to be awesome! The pitching staff has to be so damn excited.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Yelich was their own guy...I personally don't count that. I expect my teams to re sign their most important players. I'm talking about doing that with Free Agents, ADDED to your own guy(s) you re signed.

ETA: Another example...JBJ was seemingly option B AFTER Turner...why an either/or?? Why not both?

How many World Series titles have the Brewers had in the last decade by concentrating on offense?

$188.5 million commitment to one guy doesn't count as spending money because he's already on your team. Got it. I've heard it all. I wonder if I can get a bank to help me put an in-ground pull in the backyard on the grounds it's not real money because I already have the house.

They've made big FA signings every year to add to their core. As alluded to earlier, just because they aren't long-term albatross contracts doesn't mean they don't count. Money spent is money spent.

Not to hard to see this offense will be better in 2021.

Fans: "Mark A. is such a cheapskate, he won't spend any money, the Brewers won't sign any free agents and the payroll is going to be $80million"

Brewers: Sign two name free agents to significant contracts, make reportedly competitive offer to Turner, no significant cut to payroll despite payroll cutting throughout the rest of the league this year, projected to be a contender in the NL Central

Fans: "SPEND MORE MONEY MARK!"

At some point, it's just noise from fans who will literally never be happy until the Brewers spend like the Yankees or Dodgers, which will literally never happen.
