Truly spending money to me, is increasing the payroll consistently, and never dropping it down below a certain level

Just a hunch, but do you work for the government?

Post of the year.

I just really hope for his sake that Capital One and American Express do not monitor BF.net.

Bradley is a good player, and I'm happy to have him.

Stearns has constructed a team in a specific fashion - and it's kind of cool they're going all in on what they are doing. If things go well, they have an average offense, good defense, solid rotation, very good bullpen (in particular the back end).

This is - by no means - fool proof. We are counting on a lot of bounce back players, and need a few guys to step up and improve.

The move certainly gives us depth and versatility at the OF position.

The real question now is ... what uniform number is Bradley gonna pick as a member of the Brewers? I have a feeling that his traditional #19 ain't gonna fly.

He was #7 in AA, but #19 in AAA and in college. So I would venture it would be #7 which has been vacated by Sogard.

What happens when we trade for Sogard in July?

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

There was a lot posted earlier on the potential impact of Miller Park on his offense, but if players are slow to change their approach in the face of a deader ball, OF defense is going to potentially be more valuable then others might be banking on. Better defense also helps your starters get deeper into games. I don't forsee getting work horse type innings out of anybody, but making 5 or 6 highly likely makes it easier to keep mixing and matching bullpen guys for the last few innings instead of having to really push it with extending guys long.

This board would be more enjoyable to read if people spent more time simply expressing their own opinions rather than nitpicking or attacking what someone else wrote.

So... what is your opinion on the JBJ signing?

Part of a forum is the discussion... part of the internet is nitpicking... We try to keep the attacks to a minimum; at least compared to other boards.

Since they had this money the whole time, signing La Stella would’ve made a lot more sense

Considering the contract that La Stella actually received, and the lack of much chatter about him this offseason, I wonder if he has been perhaps overrated?

Maybe he signed too early out of concern of lower spending this off-season? There must be something I’m missing. Because at his contract, being the better hitter, being good the last full year (unlike

Bradley) and actually playing a position of need, La Stella seems like a much better fit on this team

Maybe the Brewers offered 3/20 to LaStella & he just preferred San Francisco.

Since I remain skeptical about LoCain at 35 and a year away from the team, this is just OK.

If we were to somehow pry Kyle Seager from Seattle, I'd make my peace with the gaping hole at catcher and our 3/4/5 starters, and dare to dream of another 1st round playoff exit.

But with the godawful Travis Shaw / Luis Arias combo platter at 3rd, and so many bad catchers, it seems that once again, Stearns prioritized something we don't really need.

If David volunteered at a food pantry, he'd take care of the homeless with "Tattoos for everyone!"

"So if this fruit's a Brewer's fan, his ass gotta be from Wisconsin...(or Chicago)."

What gaping hole? I think you need to reevaluate your opinion of the catcher position, new guy.

LOL. Geno outdates most everyone here.

The only way to not love this deal is if you are living in the past and think that MLB rosters should be constructed to have 8 guys who will start 160 games for you.

JBJ has 5+ WAR upside when he has a hot year offensively, and we basically have him on a 1/$13M contract barring a major injury.

Will be a joy to watch him and Cain in the OF together at the same time. I kind of want to bring back Keon Broxton just for fun on days that Yelich takes off. :laughing

Certainly possible. Although I’d think a better hitter’s park, a clear starting spot, and a couple million would’ve been hard to pass up

Feels like Brewers are going the route of the 2015 Royals - stellar defense, stellar bullpen.

I have no problem with that. Most of the better teams have good pitching and defense.

And if these new guys put the ball in play I like that too. I'm weary of the Crew striking out as much as they have recently. How many times last year did we get a guy in scoring position with less than 2 outs and fail to score?

Now we don't like first round playoff exits? We've become spoiled. Well you have anyway. I'd prefer a longer run but I enjoy the hell out of playoff baseball.

Also, the Brewers are pretty clearly the best team in the division in my view. We shall see.

The playoff field really got diluted last year. I'm glad they went away from expanded playoffs and I hope it stays that way. I enjoy playoff baseball as well, but I didn't consider making the playoffs in 2020 to be much of an accomplishment.

Wong and Bradley are considerably better than the general awfulness that they accrued last offseason. Notwithstanding, Just having Yelich hit, dare I say .270 with .370 obp and power, we will be so much better on offense.

Let me see if I can sum up the offseason. Our biggest need was a 1B and 3B. So naturally we instead signed a second 2B and moved our first 2B to 1B. Then signed a second gold glove CF and will not play him every day but instead will rotate him among the three other OFs. Which leaves us to 3B, which will likely be filled by our second SS. Makes sense. Stearns is definitely an orignal.

I didn't either. But 18 was great and even 19 was damn exciting.

I'm pretty confident this team is better than last year, and possibly by a fair amount.
