Leaving the speculation out of the post, but this creates an interesting OF scenario. Cain possibly on the move? Bradley/Avi platoon? If Hiura can play a compitent first this is shaping up to be a top 5 defense.

He is still retweeting this. Guy seems to be a Red Sox beat writer with the Boston Globe.

Like there is no doubt this makes the team better. I think it'll mostly be a "double platoon" type of thing where JBJ will essentially platoon with both Cain and Garcia against righties, occasionally spells Yelich when he needs a day off. Double switches, injuries, suspensions, 10 DH games etc. Plenty of plate appearances to go around to essentially have 4 "starters" and have them all play a lot.

But if there was money available, a glove-first OF seems an odd way to spend it. Though I suppose if this was the Turner money, there's not a lot else (Odorizzi maybe, but he seems to want more years) to spend at this point of the offseason. But it's a multi-year deal (Based on the tweet I presume it's 1 year + player option for a total maximum of $24m) so it's not purely a Grandal/Moose type signing either.

I wonder if there’s a lack of confidence in Cain returning from his one-year hiatus and being close to his 2019 glove level and 2018 bat level.

This signing is a bigger indictment of how the team feels about Garcia playing against RHP.

Or maybe this means Cain told the Crew he intends to sit out again this coming season?

Well, this is an upgrade over McKinney or Fischer on the roster for sure. That just seems like a lot of money for our 4th starting OF. I would have preferred a guy like LaStella instead as he would make a greater impact on the lineup (replacing Shaw or Urias against righties is a better than replacing Cain or Garcia).

I see no need for McKinney or Fischer now so one of the two will likely be cleared to make room for Bradley. Not sure how Taylor makes OD now either. I am really pulling for him as he could be a good bench bat.

Taylor has an option so I'm sure he's ticketed now for AAA until an injury happens. Fisher & Mckinney are most likely going to be DFA'd as both are out of options
