Packer 2021 Draft Discussion- Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia; Round 2 Josh Myers, C, Ohio State; 3: Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson

She started with "Am..." and I thought I had another one.

Gadget guy, punt returner. I had the right profile and position, wrong guy.

Think a 4th was a little steep to move up only seven spots.

How true. Moved up to take Love with a 4th. To move up 7spots in the 3rd cost the same? Why not the Comp 4th pick? Now watch we trade a 5th and move up 10spots with the 4th rd pick we still have.

92 and 135 = 170 pts. 170 pts. = pick 84, exactly. So yes, the Packers slightly overpaid in getting #85, but by the slightest amount possible.

Rich Hill’s draft chart puts the Titans ahead by 9.5 points, roughly equivalent to the 160th overall pick. Instead of packaging 92 and 135, a more even exchange would have been 92 and 173, Green Bay’s first of two fifth-round picks.

Did we just draft Lancaster's replacement?

I sure hope so.

Packers going SEC heavy this year.

Only if OSU and Clemson are in the SEC and sometimes it seems that way. Half their picks from the SEC is probably about average these days. I like that they are drafting need of course but hope they aren't passing on better players to do it.

Edit: Just saw the Florida DT and now the App state CB

This may be the first draft I’ve ever followed and been pretty content about. It helps we are set at position that are usually found annoying...RB when you already have one, special teams guy, TE, or some other guy really unlikely to be anything useful.

It feels like A) the Packers know that historically offensive linemen have provided the most Day 3 value and B) are on the verge of overcompensating for that fact. That said, can't really fault either of the picks. I kind of liked Van Lanen as a late-round guard convert.

other than QB, I feel there is no non special teams position group that gets exposed quicker due to lack of depth than offensive line.

The only players who the Packers had confirmed virtual visits with who are still on the board are Javian Hawkins (RB, Louisville), Justin Raine (FB, Northwestern), Eli Stove (WR, Auburn), and Trill Williams (S, Syracuse). So far, they have not drafted anyone who they had a virtual visit with.

Probably cost us the Super Bowl, even though the replacements played very well before Tampa and we didn't really have a lack of depth. But in the very end we didn't have enough.

Well, I think I predicted a double-dip CB draft and our annual 4th round OT-that-might-be-a-guard-in-the-NFL. Missed on EVERYTHING else. :laughing

I like the DT in the 5th. Might only be a 2-down player, but pairs with Keke well. No more Snacks, I'd guess.

With back-to-back drafts with 3 OL, we should be set inside for a while. If Nijman can take the next step to be quality depth or a starter, the line should be pretty strong for a long time.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com gave the Packers an A for Day 1 and an A- for Day 2.

I do have an issue with what he and other analysts have said about Myers and other centers. "I had him rated behind other prospects at the position that were available at No. 62, such as Creed Humphrey and Quinn Meinerz."

Can someone please remind these analysts that Meinerz has not snapped one single ball at center during a game in his college career? Someone like that is not going to be able to step in and start right away for a team that lost a starting center in free agency.

These graders love to penalize teams if they don’t follow their draft board. I used to take a lot of credence is their grades, no more. It means nothing

There’s really no accountability for any of these experts. They just get to write whatever and drop meaningless grades that mean zilch.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Theres the #1 pick team that gets the automatic A because they selected the #1 player everybody said was the #1 player, always get a kick out of that. Like give a grade sans the top 2 pick teams.

I thought Stokes was an excellent pick when I seen a writeup on him and a Detroit fan comments hope we pick him so we can move Okudah to nickle packages. Like okay your #3 pick last season pass him on.

The more highlights I watch of Amari Rodgers the more I wonder how the heck he lasted until the 3rd round. Does he get downgraded for having a really, really, good quarterback or something?
