There are going to be some really good players at the end of round 1 that otherwise wouldn't be around in a normal draft year after half of the top 15 picks are QBs...

Right on... a lot of picks to go before #29, but a ton of talent there this year.

I think this MAY work out better than needlessly trading up one spot to draft Trubisky, but man, how much better would the Bears be if they had just kept some of the GOBS of draft picks they've traded away the past five years?

Well, to be fair - had they kept those pics it would still be Pace selecting the players....so probably not that much better

First round picks yeah basically the only pick he has hit on in the 1st has been Roquan Smith.

Pace has actually been really good at drafting in the later rounds Jackson (4th), Cohen (4th), Montgomery (3rd) and the jury is still out on Mooney (5th) but he showed promise last year. There are a few others that I am forgetting about but Pace has been rather good drafting after the 1st round.

Also of note, Jones is the 5th QB chosen in this draft at #15 overall, and also behind 3 other Alabama standouts that include his WR#1 and #2 options to throw to last season...

It is insane how much talent the Crimson Tide football program consistently has compared to everyone else. Right now I think you could pick an all star team using the rest of college football and pit them against Alabama on a given year, and I think that would be a 50/50 matchup.

I have been told all Wisconsin needs to do is tweak the offense a little bit and they would be just as good as Alabama

He's been their GM for 6 years - I'd hope he would find a half dozen or so good players after round 2 by now. Some of that is the fact he's had to draft well in later rounds because he's either missing his early round picks or he's trading them away.

"It's not a talent gap"

That's the whole problem with trading down. You have to be almost perfect or you will always have holes.
