Spring Training Games - 2021

Eye Black

Hiura crushes a homer to right center.......Yelich sneaks 1 over the wall in left center.

Wind is blowing out today. Hiura’s was gone without wind......Yelich’s would have been caught.

Now Narvaez hits a rocket out to left center.

Woah Nellie

"Houser continues to struggle"

Good think Peralta is being stretched out

It's a little bit of tough luck and at same time self imposed. Ground balls that go for hits. 3 infield hits in the first alone. A passed ball that led to a sacrifice run. Than a RP who allows both inherited runners to score.

Trevor Bauer faced the Brewers in a spring training game a couple weeks ago. He posted a detailed video analysis of the Brewers hitters that can be found here:

Thought some of you might find it interesting.

He basically says he respects Bradley and thinks Shaw sucks.

So Devin Williams hits a batter in his appearance, didn't really think much of it, the inning continues and I forget about it. Inning ends, commercial break and the Brewers begin their half inning. First batter gets beaned in the leg. I kinda tilt my head puzzled because it looked like one of those intentional unintentional HBP and I can't fathom why at first but then Schroeder mentions the Brewers hit a batter and immediately I just roll my eyes. Tony friggin LaRussa. What a tool. He's just so petty and predictable. It's just a spring training game, settle down old geezer.

I have not gotten to watch the game yet, but it appears Peralta really struggled his second time through the lineup today. I have a feeling this third attempt to make him a starter is not going to go well.

He did well. 6 baserunners in 5 1/3 IP will usually yield fewer runs than that, just a matter of sequencing. Other than the HR there wasn't much in the way of hard contact.

And watching the replay of the HR it was a line drive that carried over the fence by maybe 5 feet above it. There are likely more stadiums where that is a double than Stadiums where it is a HR. Another Brewer Starter victimized by RP giving up inherited runner. Another one of those do you think CC is putting that RP in or giving the Starter a longer leash.

0BBs and 8ks for Peralta. That will do starting.

Urias starting so many games at SS recently hopefully means they'll be going with him as the primary guy at SS to start the season. I mean it might mean something else entirely too, but that's just what I hope. Arcia is looking as bad as ever at the plate (Not just results-wise, but in terms of his swing, and what he swings at etc) while Urias is looking pretty good.

Hedbert Perez makes a diving catch at the warning track... wow!

Not sure where else to post about this, but I saw his name ranked high on most people's prospect lists in that thread on here, but I've literally never heard of him.. where did this guy come from?

He signed with the Brewers out of Venezuela for $700k back in 2019. He’s just 17-years old (turns 18 next week). He was the youngest player to be included in the 60-man player pool at any MLB team’s alternate site last summer. Ever since he signed his stock has continued to rise even though he has yet to play an official regular season professional game. His dad, Roberto Perez, played for the Brewers very briefly near the end of his MLB career and then he went on to a very successful career playing into his 40’s in Venezuelan professional baseball.

Here’s a fun interview he did last Fall if you’re interested:

They announced that about a week ago. Counsel said Arcia will see time at 3B and backing up Urias at SS
