Nathan Kirby

Jopal78
Is Nathan Kirby still with the Brewers organization? He was their Competitive Balance pick back in 2015 (40th overall) and blew out his elbow almost immediately after signing. I do know he hasn't pitched in forever, but I haven't been able to find out if he's still with the organization, released or retired.

Was discussed at the time of Rule 5 that Kirby was not among the 38 players protected at the AAA level, meaning any team could have paid a nominal fee to get him in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 and not have to keep him on a big league roster.

No team did.

Still in the organization, hopefully will surprise.

He's 27 and has thrown 83 professional innings in his career, the last 3 years ago. Anything is possible, but I hope he invested his bonus money wisely.

Crazier things have happened. I thought someone said he was finally throwing pain free last year in camp before everything got shut down.

If that true, maybe it's not so crazy that he could make his way to the big leagues. He certainly had TOR type stuff when he was younger. If he's still got any of that left, maybe he becomes another lefty in the pen.
