Since I see his name thrown around a lot, and I don't see a thread dedicated to him, thought I'd start one with this information:

 

According to SNY's Andy Martino, free agent starter James Paxton "is said to be seeking" more than $11 million.

 

$11 million is what Corey Kluber got from the Yankees last month on a one-year contract, and Paxton is apparently aiming to top it. The asking price might help to explain why the 32-year-old left-hander remains unsigned with spring training scheduled to get underway next week. Paxton has typically been highly effective when healthy, but he posted a rough 6.64 ERA in just 20 1/3 innings (five starts) last season with New York while averaging only 92.1 mph with his fastball -- a pitch that was clocked at 95.5 mph on average in 2019.
