Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)

CheezWizHed

According to this article, Rodgers doesn’t have to test for 90 days once he’s asymptotic (and it sounds like he’s doing well):

Although, the author also referred to AJ Hawk as ‘guest host’ and ‘sports anayst,’ so take that with a grain of salt (Hawk is more of a radio sidekick, right?)

Just so everyone is aware, the entire interview appears to be well over half an hour. So before you judge everything by the headliner quotes (really not even half quotes of full sentences) to get clicks and get people riled up you may want to actually watch the interview.

Media literacy is important and It's actually worse if you listen to the whole thing.

One angst I do have with the media…is that this is all coming out like it’s new information. But it’s been known for months. Could do without the media coming off like they were wronged, when most/all local Atleast knew his situation. Aaron obviously can handle things better. But the media isn’t faultless in this either. Rodgers is an easy villain for them, just need to wait for Aaron to make a mistake.

Rodgers: "I realize I'm in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now"

The hilarious thing about that is that in the past, Rodgers has been a card-carrying member of said mob.

Do you have an example? I think he’s always had a more liberal vibe, but has never come across as preachy to me.

We probably delve into discussing stuff that isn't really allowed here, but without going into specifics there are definitely examples where he used his celebrity status to further personal beliefs before.

Rodgers was by no means 100% right in whatever that rambling podcast was....but he also wasn't 100% wrong, either. Anyone expecting a guy who throws a football as a livelihood, no matter how enlightened or complicated he and/or anyone else thinks he is, to provide perfect clarity on the best way for everyone to navigate through a pandemic and come away in complete agreement probably needs to take a breath. I will say, the thing I thought was the nuttiest part of that interview was Rodgers referencing MLK's position on how to object to morally unjust rules in trying to draw comparisons to NFL COVID protocols. Pretty certain the rules MLK had in mind were a bit more unjust than making you take a daily COVID test, ARod...

My problem remains with how he chose to sidestep this issue with a cryptic and intentionally misleading answer to that August presser question knowing it was the best way to avoid public scrutiny - and then all parties involved willfully abetting the perception he was vaccinated until they couldn't hide behind what a positive test meant for an unvaxxed player compared to a vaxxed one in terms of league protocols and how soon the reigning league MVP would be eligible to get back on a football field.

Sounds like he doesn't like the media asking players questions about their personal health choices. I can't blame him. The media has no right to ask questions about vaccination status and the general public has no right to know. The NFL and his team, sure, I guess. If you want to make the argument that it's a relevant question because his decisions could affect his availability to the team then I wonder how some would feel if female athletes were asked if they were taking birth control.

I haven’t read such a ridiculous whataboutism on this forum since the Ryan Braun thread. Unbelievable.

They guy is literally a threat to the health of the reporters in the room. And then you combine the recklessness with the brazen attitude. And throw it on top of all the other selfish drama this guy has put the franchise through.

Actually he said he didn't mind the original question and would have expounded on it if pressed. No one did.

If he doesn't like the question then say "You have no right to that information".

Allow me to ask why it bothers you? The August statement worked perfectly; it stopped people from asking the types of questions that were directed at people like Kirk Cousins and Cole Beasley, while likewise avoiding any Kyrie Irving-like cancellation, personal or professional. The league and the team all knew his status. It only stopped working because he came down with COVID.

I didn't get Rodgers prior "woke cancellation" comments, since Rodgers hadn't really done or said anything warranting cancellation; I assumed he was filtering the socio-political climate through his personal bubble. Knowing he was unvaccinated, and seeing cancellation come to public figures whose non-vaccinated status became public (Joe Rogan being an obvious example)....now it all starts to make some sense. He wasn't projecting nearly as much as I thought he was.

Joe Rogan has been cancelled?

The thing that bothers me is him not following rules he didn't like. Keeping his status personal, sure. Coming out and saying I'm not following NFL protocol and rules because I don't think masking is based in science is unacceptable. I don't care who you are, rules are rules whether you like them or not. And then when you consider that the Packers and the NFL let him get away with avoiding the protocols is also unacceptable. I'm curious how this unfolds because the NFL needs to provide some form of discipline, but they also need discipline put on themselves.

Really interested to see what type of game plan Petals comes up with with J-Love making his first start. Will they trust the run game more? Will it be a bunch of quick release 3-step drop? Really anxious (in every facet of the word) to see how Love performs under the big lights.

History repeats itself, first as tragedy (Braun), then as farce (Rodgers).

Rodgers’ anger at Braun’s situation (which was still a more serious moral error in my book) adds a layer of absurdity to the entire hilarious episode. In the end, it serves as another entry in the file of why no one should go looking for role models among the rich and athletically gifted. If there was any doubt about 12’s unsuitability in this regard, it is now thoroughly dispelled.

So, if he is allergic to the mRNA portion of Pfizer and Moderna, and saw J&J getting pulled off of the "CDC" shelves, what would you propose he do? I suppose he could have just sat there and did nothing, but he did get a treatment, just not one of the American mainstream ones.

Seems pretty reasonable, especially given the very low risk Covid posses him.

The J&J vaccine was only paused for 10 days just to look at the date again and make sure it was safe. He could have taken it anytime since, so to imply that it hasn't been an option is just not true. And with his money, if he had really wanted to, he probably could have found a way to get the AstraZeneca vaccine, which has been the main vaccine used in the UK.

And the treatment he has used has not been proven by science to be effective against Covid, not the mainstream media.

He didn't want to believe the scientific evidence, but had no problem listening to Joe Rogan.

Of course, that is up to him.

Why is it that there is a type of vaccine that's available in other countries but not in this one?

He doesn't have to get vaccinated. He does have to follow the rules for those whom are unvaccinated, which he blatantly ignored.

People can think what they want...but imagine believing Joe Rogan over ANY person in the medical field.

I actually might. It's not in a doctor's best interest to cure you. It's in their best interests to make money. A patient cured is a patient lost.
