In addition to the Lancaster/Alexander roster swap, it looks like Equanimeous St. Brown and Ben Braden will be elevated from the practice squad for tomorrow. That’s EQ’s final elevation for the season unless he’s added for a COVID exemption.

The Packers are 4-1, but have been outscored by their opponents 122-120.

Somewhat ironically, the 2005 Packers were 1-4 through 5 games, but had outscored their opponents 124-95 thanks to a lopsided 52-3 win against … wait for it … the New Orleans Saints.

:laughing

About a third of the way through the season now & it looks like DAL, GB, TB, ARI & LA are the playoff locks in the NFC barring major injury.

Getting a top 3 seed would be nice to ensure either a 1st round bye or one of the couple mediocre teams that sneak in as the 6/7 seeds as the 1st round match up. That 4/5 game will likely be pretty evenly matched.

I don't see any of those teams really separating....maybe the Rams? TB if they get their defensive backfield healthy too I guess. Should be a fun set of playoff games this year.

It's hard to see anyone in the West getting a bye due to their slate of divisional games. Even SF/SEA are contested games so there are likely some losses in there for everyone. GB would do itself a big favor beating Arizona or LA.

Scheduling likely gives the advantage to Dallas. Tampa's not really playing a gauntlet of games either.

Looking ahead, the Packers play the Cardinals on TNF and the Chiefs play the Giants on MNF. The Packers and Chiefs meet the following week with the Packers on 10 days of rest and the Chiefs on 6. That’s good news for the Packers, but I think I could design a better, more fair NFL schedule with my buddies and a very large sheet of poster board..

I'm wondering how the NFL came up with the algorithm for scheduling 17th games.

[sarcasm]Probably the same one that sends the Packers to play at San Francisco 3 years in a row.[/sarcasm]

Just reading the game thread and saw the comment on franchising Adams but thought it fit here better. Barring injury or extension I would be stunned if the Packers didn’t franchise him if for no other reason to work out a trade. The cap situation is always fluid and of course we need to see where Rodgers is but he is at such a high level right now no way you let him go for just a future comp pick.

You have to be able to actually fit the franchise tag in under the cap to use it, and that would require an incredible amount of cap gymnastics to make that work next year. I don't see it happening.

Just took a look at the cap for 22, projected to be 30 million over by the site I saw but plenty of salary that can be dropped in the Smiths, Cobb,Lowry,Turner if needed. And we don’t know what the deal will be with Rodgers, if he stays they probably extend Adams and that’s that, if he leaves Adams probably does too but we now have the Rodgers savings to factor in to make room for Adams tag.

Rashan Gary is a stud, and I kinda love it. Lots of egg on the faces of the barstool GMs.

Gute's 2019 draft is pretty impressive despite not having a ton of picks....Gary, Savage, jenkins are a pretty solid 1st 3 picks

I still see some angst around Gary on here and I don't really get it...as he's figured out how to play OLB in this system he has become really solid against both the run and pass.

I’ve been critical of the Gary pick, but am pleased to see him playing well. I’m happy to eat some crow if he continues to look the part. However, I remain steadfast in believing the #12 overall pick should have been a stud from Day 1. Even if he gives the Packers two above average years in 2021 and 2022, he’s going to become expensive to retain. I’ll reserve further judgement while we see how the next two seasons play out.

That's a pretty unreasonable standard.

Is it? Unless you’re taking a QB, you should at least be getting a Day 1 starter at #12. The book on Gary is incomplete, but I don’t think I’m wrong in questioning whether that pick was the best use of draft capital.
