Report: Rodgers wants new contract (Update: May not want to return in 2021)

SeaBass
He is not force throwing to Cobb or anyone else because of friendship. Has he done this ever in his career?

"Friendship" isn't the reason, but no doubt he's forced throws to Adams and Nelson over the years. It worked more often than not though.

Yep. He prefers to throw balls to guys he can trust. The problem is, Adams/Nelson were top receivers in those situations. Rodgers hasn't seen Cobb in almost three years, and Cobb isn't the player he was the first time around.

One of the funniest part of this, is that in the book Gunslinger there is a passage about Rodgers's first couple camps and how he compared to Favre.

There's a line that's something like this, based on the testimony of players on that team: "Favre had 'his guys'. Rodgers just threw the ball, it didn't matter who you were."

All QBs prefer to throwing to guys they trust. The original post made it sound Rogers was going to force throws to Cobb instead of hitting more open receivers causing outrage of fans. Favre and Rodgers were/are known to spread the ball around.

My completely unfounded but potentially legitimate fear is that Rodgers forces 8 balls a game to an aging, ineffective Cobb to try and prove himself right.

Hah! I thought the same thing.

Let's just hope Cobb has enough left in the tank to justify things.

I think we'll find that out soon enough. And if he shouldn't be on the field, the coaching staff won't give him time. They want to win. If Cobb ain't there - let's hope he's not on the field.

At this point (if the Kumerow thing has an ounce of truth), Rodgers and Favre really need to get together. The parallels of the situations is just really ironic. Favre was pretty open about how he went from playing football with all his buddies to being the old man in the locker-room and feeling disconnected from most of his team. All of his close friends were gone at the end. I'd guess this is more why losing Kumerow was a blow to Rodgers than his actual WR skillset.

Maybe we can hire Jake as assistant to the regional manager in charge of QB communications.

I guess Cobb can actually play WR AND be Rodger's buddy...

I remember when everyone wished Favre and Rodgers would become Buddy Buddy after Favre retired. Then they did…

I wonder if people still wished they became friends now.

I think the same with Braun and Yelich. I bet Braun was a huge influence in Yelich signing that big contract as they became best buds after he came to MIL.

I'm pretty sure the size of the contract had 99% of the influence on Yelich's decision.
