Report: Rodgers wants new contract (Update: May not want to return in 2021)

I consider my Packer and Brewer fandom to be relatively equal.

A Brewer World Series would mean much more to me simply because it's never happened.

Currently my Packer and Brewer fandom are relatively equal, but Brewers baseball was my first love, and after loving that team through the 90's and early 2000's, a Brewer World Series would mean so much more.

So that Rodgers guy, is he going to opt out by July 2?

Brewers WS would mean more to me than a SB, although I am also more satisfied than upset when the Brewers get knocked out of the playoffs. The competitive balance isn't the same, and I empathize with their front office and the very real and enormous hurdles they have to just being competitive. I never really expect that I'll see a WS, but the Brewers making it to the playoffs is pretty close to what making the Super Bowl is given the differences in the leagues. It's not really because I expect more out of the Packers, it's that I consider what they do most of the time as "blowing it" whereas the Brewers sitting 46-33 is a small miracle in itself.

I'd have to agree and this is also a good point. I agree with those that state that if I had to choose what happens in 2021, a WS is far and away bigger than a SB on my list, because I've seen two SB wins already and I really don't remember the crappy 80s Packers, but remember the laughing stock Selig-Prieb Brewers all too well.

But, the expectations are also different. I'm not expecting the Brewers to really legitimately contend for a WS every year and in a lot of was am just glad their competitive as they have been. The Packers are viewed, correctly so, as a team that should contend each year. But, that has led to SOME level of unrealistic expectations and fan opinions, IMO.

Unrealistic expectations.... Sure. But nobody should get told they're being spoiled when they say they're frustrated that the team is 0-4 in the last decade in conf title games.

I think we can agree to disagree, because I don't think 'high expectations' and spoiled are mutually exclusive.

Like I said. Everyone is free to feel how they want to feel about their sports fandom

Of course, just like in real life. And, just like in real life, if people are acting spoiled they will get called out on it. I think it fits here but I started my fandom in the mid 70's and I do not want to go back.

I don't know how more clearly I can say I just think it's frustrating to see your teams go 0-7 in conference title games or series (now probably 0-8) over a decade and I find it odd to be called spoiled. I guess people's definitions of success are different.

I live in the land of purple so I'm used to people calling me spoiled. Not because I throw a fit and scream like a toddler not getting a toy when my team loses, but simply because my team has had a long series of success. Ironically, I used to take loses much worse back in the 90s (before the 1996 SB) when the Packers continually lost playoff games in Dallas (i.e. don't talk to me about it for days).

So in reality, getting called "spoiled" by other fandoms is generally more a sign of jealousy on them than anything I do or say.

I’m trying to follow the Packers 0-8 record here…. Isn’t it more like 0-4?

He's not referring to just the Packers, all Wisconsin sports teams.

Wasn't the deadline July 2 for the COVID "I don't want to play this year' rule. If so, there is one hurdle we cleared that was so easy for Rodgers to use. My guess is that he comes to camp three days late like a drama queen and plays the year out and all is forgiven.

I mean, he’s busy right now training for his golf match.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Yeah….. he’s like Constanza trying to get fired from the Yankees. Missing team stuff, flaunting pictures of his vacation in Hawaii while others are working in camp, being sidetracked with social media stuff, hosting Jeopardy, and playing golf on national TV. I really don’t care if he does some of these things, but as a team player his focus is everywhere but getting better.

That’s a bit unfair. We see a snapshot of his life and assume he’s not working to get better? Naw…

He missed mini camp and mandatory workouts with his teammates. He is being pretty dramatic.

And his teammates don't seem to care.

Of course, his WRs want him there. Of course (outside of maybe Adams), they all want him around to work on timing/routes/plays. Of course, ALL Packers care that he is in camp.

He’s hijacking a team and it’s realistic ability to getting to another a Super Bowl. It is bad enough already and it progressively gets worse as training camp begins.

He's not hijacking anything until he starts missing training camp.
