Biloxi OF Tristen Lutz, #5 on the Crew's Top 30 MLB Pipeline list, heads to the Shuckers' 7-day IL.

MiLB.TV subscribers watch here

Go to the 02:18:20 hour/minute mark.

Lutz gets drilled in the left hand by an inside pitch.

Insult to injury, the umpire ridiculously calls the pitch a foul ball initially, and does not reconsider his call.

Lutz exits, Lucas Erceg has to finish the AB, and grounded out.

Eight Arizona Complex League players placed on 60-day injured list, presumably for Covid protocols. Other teams commenced their season yesterday, but we’re obviously delayed, hoping to commence this Thursday:

- Herbert Perez, Luis Medina, Jeferson Quero, Kevin Hardin, Luis Silva, Kelvin Bender, Jefferson Figueroa, Jeison Pena

Five more Arizona Complex League players placed on 60-day injured list (Covid protocols presumed for all), bringing the total to thirteen: Jesus Parra, Eduarqui Fernandez, Juan Frias, Jose Caballero, Jose Chavez.

Via @BrewersPD:

OF Jeicor Cristian and INF Joneiker Ponce de Leon were released from DSL Brewers.

***

Cristian, a Dominican native who turned 20 in May, had fanned 41.3% of his AB's as a very young DSL'er in 2018-19. A LH bat, he managed a .642 OPS based on a .336 OBP.

Ponce de Leon, 19 a RH bat out of Venezuela, debuted in 2019 and was a bat-to-ball demon as a 17-year-old, fanning only 11.5% of his AB's but only drawing seven walks. Unlike Cristian, he was successful in SB attempts (12-for-16).

The Brewers have acquired INF Kevin Kramer from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for LHP Nathan Kirby. Kirby was my sleeper pick before the season and he has impressed so far with AA Biloxi.

Not sure I get the point of this. Kramer seems to have stalled out at the majors. Are we really in need of another crappy utility infielder? Kirby is likely to not pan out, but I was following him and holding out hope he could be a dominant reliever. I think I like Kirby's future better than Kramer. I believe Kramer does not need a 40 man roster spot but if we were just trying to replace Hernan, it seems like we could have found FA to sign instead. Probably not a great loss with Kirby though.

Hey hey, we have a roster for the Brewers Blue team, which plays their first game tonight in the Arizona Complex League. Note that 9 other players are on the Gold roster, which appears still delayed due to Covid protocols (Hedbert Perez, Jesus Parra, Eduarqui Fernandez, Branlyn Jaraba, Johnnys Cabrera, Juan Frias, Santiago Elizondo, Kelvin Bender, Jeison Pena).

Very tough break for RHP Brooks Hall who had just gotten back into affiliated ball and only had two appearances for AA Biloxi. He suffered a torn Achilles and is out for the season.

Here's what Garrett Greene wrote in his game summary on Sunday evening June 20th.

RHP Brooks Hall was pitching well but left in the bottom of the second after an apparent injury while moving to cover first on a double play. LHP Cody Beckman replaced Hall and worked 1.2 scoreless frames.

Normally we tend to immediately review the video on a report like that, I feel bad I didn't do so that Monday AM, but even worse now, and nothing like what Hall experienced, just a brutal injury. Those Achilles injuries always present such a dramatically awful image.

For MiLB.TV subscribers (road announcer accurately conveys the news about Hall working his way back to affiliated ball), go to the 48:30 minute mark.

Game Video: Biloxi at Rocket City, Sunday June 20th (Trash Pandas call)

Just a sad situation.

It looks like OF Luis Medina (#13 prospect in organization per MLB.com) is the first of the ACL players apparently under Covid protocols to come out of it, as he’s been activated.

Meanwhile, OF Alwinson Valdez has returned to the roster and is listed on the 60-day injured list. Hopefully it’s a protocol issue and not related to real injuries; he hasn’t played since 2018.

Also, IF Yeison Coca’s round-the-organization tour has taken him to AA Biloxi from AAA Nashville. Fellow IF Tyler Friis was placed on the Temporary Inactive List at Biloxi.

It’s nice to see catcher Jose Sibrian back in action, assigned to the Arizona Complex League Blue squad. He had a .727 OPS in 174 PAs for the Rocky Mountain Vibes in 2019, but he wasn’t part of the MILB Spring Training roster or any club in 2021 until now.

SS Daniel Castillo moved to Arizona Complex League Blue squad from Low-A Carolina Mudcats.

RHP Santiago Elizondo placed on 60-day injured reserve at Carolina.

RHP Nolan Clenney (announced in May as being acquired by Brewers) will evidently not be joining any Brewers affiliate, as he’s throwing for the St. Lucie Mets.

Latest in a line of international signings -- 17-year-old RH-hitting shortstop Demetrio Nadal, that's all the details we have for now.

Oh yeah, he's listed at 5'7", 125

Add a more traditional 6'3", 193 RHP to the list, Henrison Mota, 18 years old.

Next up - 17-year-old catcher Eric Martinez, RH bat, 6'0", 175.

Like others, all we know for now.
