2021 Minor League Transaction Thread

Per his player page, RHP Jesus Castillo has been moved from AAA Nashville to AA Biloxi.

 

Brewers Player Development Twitter also reports that RHP TJ Shook has been placed on Low-A Carolina's 7-day injured list.

 

These moves are in addition the call-up of LHP Hoby Milner from AAA Nashville to MLB Milwaukee.

Not officially on the IL (yet), but Nashville's Corey Ray and Dustin Peterson will be out "weeks".

Is someone clubbing Fisher in the shin whenever he gets close to finishing his 20 day rehab assignment? Isn't this his third straight rehab? The Brewers have to be well over the line as to the rules on this.

It appears that RHP Carlos Luna has been officially assigned to the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He made 15 starts for Brewers MILB affiliates in 2019 and will hopefully thrive at his new posting. Go Carlos!

Yet to make his professional debut, now-18-year-old RHP Breiner Carvajal underwent right labrum surgery on May 30th. We did get photos of the young man back upon his signing in November 2018 out of Venezuela.

 

Carvajal has technically been placed on the Carolina 7-day DL.

 

This certainly would be a paperwork-only move, as Carvajal would almost for sure debut in the Dominican Summer League or Maryvale if he does pitch this season.

 

Not sure why the injured lists for those leagues aren't utilized.

We never did learn why 20-year-old RHP Wade Beasley, the Crew's 24th round pick in 2018 out of a Texas high school, was placed on the 60-day DL last April. Now we know he had right rotator cuff surgery April 18th, 2019.

 

This week, Beasley, in a likely "paper-only" move, was placed on Carolina's 7-day injured list.

Baseball America wrote about the AZL and DSL today in this article. With the AZL starting June 28, and the DSL starting July 12.

 

They mention that “Originally, the Brewers and Blue Jays were slated to have a combined team of players, but the Brewers decided to go to two full teams.”

 

Also looks like the Brewers, Giants and Royals are the only teams with 2 AZL teams.

Also the Brewers will not field a co-op team with the Blue Jays in the DSL. Instead the Crew will have two teams in both the AZL and DSL, so four total. Short-season leagues will have Wednesdays and Sundays off just as the full-season teams have every Monday off.

19-year-old Branlyn Jaraba, the Colombia 3rd base prospect who signed for $1,100,000 in July of 2018 and has thus far just the 2019 DSL season that he competed in as a young 17-year-old under his belt, was placed on the 7-day Maryvale injured list.

 

I don't believe we've seen a 60-day Maryvale IL placement in quite some time, if at all, so the formality of going on the 7-day list often means a long-term absence.

 

Hopefully not the case here.
