it bugs me that people don't know what Thurston Fluff does for a living

I don't any more either. I used to just do the comedy stuff now I'm a certified balloon artist as well (Yes that's areal thing.) Not really sure how that happened.

[sarcasm]As a certified balloon artist, did you get a raise? Or are you full of hot air?[/sarcasm]

It bugs me that we don't have a font for puns.

It bugs me that we don't have a "like" button.

I'm not a computer genius, but it seems like the platform used on this site is pretty outdated in many ways, but the like button is my biggest gripe.

...and why is posting pics so darn hard here?

I got to keep not having to work at a real job. I agree we need a pun font. Maybe chartreuse because it's both a liquor and color.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Since when has the word "jab" replaced shot? Is it supposed to make people less afraid of needles? It just looks unprofessional, immature, and stupid that every single article about the COVID vaccine uses the word jab about 100 times.

I am of the thought currently that it is a censor on the word shot. Can't let the overly sensitive feel insecure because the word shot triggers them. Must be a cancel culture MSM doing.

It is just slang nothing more.

Slang should not be used in headlines. Neither should it be used by "professional journalists" in articles. Although there aren't any of those left anyway.

Journalism has been dead for about the last 10-15 years what we have now is just click bait and activism journalism. There are very few actual journalists left.

I just did a google news search on the word "jab" and most of the results were British/European. Turns out, that's what the Brits call a vaccination shot:

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2021/feb/04/why-do-we-call-vaccinations-jabs

while we are all waiting for our jabs, we might wonder why the government is so keen on calling any Covid-19 vaccine a “jab” in the first place. The usage seems at once chummy and infantilising, but why does it mean “injection” anyway?

The verb “jab” is originally a Scottish form of “job”, an onomatopoeic word used since the 16th century to describe the pecking of birds, and then for any poking or thrusting action. (Romantically, “to job faces” with another meant to kiss them ardently.) Hence also the use of “jab” to mean a boxer’s straight punch with the non-dominant hand. (“Jab him, if you can, with your left,” advises a 1901 manual of self-defence by the British boxing champion Robert James “Bob” Fitzsimmons.) The additional sense of mockery or raillery (as in “verbal jabs”) is inspired by this martial context.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/19/briefing/atlanta-shootings-ncaa-mens-division-teen-vogue.html

Britain has instead maximized the number of people who receive one “jab,” as the British call it — and has delayed the second jab, often for about three months.

The Washington Post has used both terms...might depend on who is reading the article and from where they are reading it. Here is a headline from the 18th: https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/11/18/covid-vaccine-kids-first-dose/

They use both terms in the article - shot (10) and jab (1). In this case, I am guessing they just didn't want to use "shot" twice in the same sentence:

And although more Americans have been getting vaccinated, logistical problems have frustrated parents trying to immunize their kids (in one New York City vaccination site, for instance, parents reportedly waited six hours to get their children vaccine jabs), while confusion over who qualifies for boosters has disrupted administrations of the extra shots in some states.

Had to contact Spectrum about returning an unused cable box. At the end of the conversation the support person wanted to know if I was aware of an emergency broadband credit program, and if not, did I want more information. I doubted that I qualified for it, but I said sure, email me the information. So I get an email with a link to information about the program under the "Do I qualify" section is this:

Experienced a substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020 due to job loss or furlough AND has a total household income in 2020 at or below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers;

So, if I'm reading this correctly, if you were making $150k but, because a substantial loss in income since Feb 2020, are now making $95k, you qualify. However, if you are making $40k but had no substantial loss of income since Feb 2020, you don't qualify. Ok?

I don’t like it when Lego sets require you to put stickers on the bricks. Despite my best efforts, I rarely get the stickers on perfectly. You’d think Lego produces enough of each set to include customized bricks and eliminate the need for stickers.

I hate anything that makes me put stickers on. I can never put them in straight and either gave up with a crappy looking sticker, or no sticker because it ends up destroyed.
