How can a 6'4 shooting guard like DDV suck so bad at free throws? 59%, really?

He's up to 63%. Maybe he reads this thread. He was over 72% the first two seasons. Guessing he'll move towards that as the season progresses.

I've always been worried that one of these players will read one of these threads and then I'll feel bad for insulting them. Maybe I should be nicer to our players or at least the ones who are active on Internet forums.

If a Bucks player reads a Bucks thread on a Brewers fan board I would worry about that guy. :)

no mention of this, but the bucks signed Myles Powell the other day. I always thought he had a great college career and I know he is an undersized 2, but just like Marcus Howard that dude can shoot.

Yea, they brought up Diakite the same day too. They need to give these guys (and Nwora) some run and see if they can contribute. Their bench is all kinds of bad, and they need someone to step up. Powell undersized off the bench doesn't mean much, NBA is pretty position-less these days. Matters more on the defensive side of the court, but pretty sure he can't be worse than Augustine defensively.

when you have such a large percentage of salary devoted to 3 players, you need these types of guys off the bench. Its why I campaigned for seniors to be drafted in the last draft rather than projects. Maybe Nwora, Diakite, and Powell can give a spark off the bench.

Good thing Ben Hendrickson doesn't have a brother who plays basketball or else his father would be on here yelling at us.

Is this in reference to something that actually happened? Did Ben Hendrickson's Dad post on this site?

It was cool when BH was doing well. But as it became clear that he was a AAAA player, he really had a hard time with that reality and negative comments.

Giannis having a pretty good all star game

Hendrickson's dad would berate people in threads for saying anything remotely bad about his son. I remember getting a message from him after I posted something to the effect of 'I think he will be better as a starter than reliever' (my thought process was that Hendrickson was a guy who did well when he got in a groove - that sort of thing). It was not really criticism - and very mild if taken as such. His dad PMed and called me an idiot or something like that. And - I'm not lying - pointed to the one time Ben had done well in relief.

I believe Ben's mom contacted one of the mods and apologized for what a jerk the guy was.

Giannis with the All Star Game MVP. Finished the game 16/16 shooting, 3/3 for three’s, and 35 points. The previous record for a player to not miss a shot in the All Star Game was 8.

When Giannis was 15/15, he began pulling up for a three. Reggie Miller commentating the game said “No! No! NO!!” *Banks in three* “OOOHHHHH!!!! YES!!!!” :laughing

Wow...that's probably a pretty strong indication he wasn't the easiest Dad to deal with. Or that he has a little bit of a drinking problem(which is kinda irresponsible to speculate about, it just seems strange).

I get the instinct, but you'd think you'd have enough common sense to just not go to message boards that talk about your son or his teams. Unless you are Jeff Trout. Unlikely he'd ever read anything the slightest bit negative about his son.

What's wrong with promoting your son(s)?

Exactly. What's wrong with taking a very strong interest in your Son's athletic career?

I wonder if he feels vindicated, given how LaMelo is running away with the ROY award? For a while, it looked like he hit rock bottom (LiAngelo shoplifting, going to Lithuania, starting his own league, etc.).

You mean the guy who said he could beat Jordan with one arm tied behind his back or that he and his 15-year-old son could "easily take" LeBron AND Jordan?

I doubt that type of arrogance ever felt like he was wrong. I do root for those kids though. They just seem like victims to me. And while LaMelo is the story, Lonzo is really playing well also. In fact...he might not have been quite so wrong about how good those guys would be playing together. If they can keep shooting it at ~38 pct each, the ball movement they'd create, the open shots. And they're not AS bad defensively as their reputations suggest.

But yeah, Lavar is just a trash father and person as far as I can tell.

It seems like LaMelo made some good decisions and didn't allow his father as much control over his business.

Yea, I have seen the Lavar Balls of the world in youth sports, and it's not pretty. One could say it's what got his sons to where they are today. We'll never know, maybe they had the talent and would have made it anyhow with a different approach.

What I CAN guarantee you is Lavar does not feel vindicated. Extreme narcissists don't need vindication, because they know they're never wrong.
