Bucks 2020-2021 season thread

I said the exact same thing to somebody. It's always some random scrub that ends up hurting us.

 

And again, Giannis bricking free throws looms large. From potentially down 4 to down 9 in a blink.

 

Pathetic showing thus far considering Harden was hurt in 40 seconds.

Not having the 2 seed in this series is a big deal.

I don't think the Bucks can beat the Nets in a 7 game series and I don't think the Bucks think they can either.

Meh. Bucks got slaughtered by the Celtics in game one 2 years ago. It's one game. The rest of the series is gonna play out for better or worse, but this is just one game.

Middleton seems to either be really good or really bad in the playoffs. Not much in between.

Playoff freak-out Bucks have arrived. Absolutely notjing Brooklyn is doing to prevent the Bucks from putting up 120+. Just the Bucks being tight and not eunning any offense. Lopez and Giannis in the paint all day long, it's so simple.

Recent history of playoff disappointments is definitely starting to get to me. Starts to be a bit of a "here we go again" feeling.

That won't cut it unfortunately. I'm not really worried yet because they shot so poorly, but it does feel now like they have to win on Monday.

I didn't feel like the defense was a major problem. Middleton's performance was a big disappointment. You're just not going to beat the Nets shooting 6/30 from 3 and your 2nd option bricking it up with 12 points or whatever.

 

They were going to lose multiple games in the best scenario. Hopefully the shooting is random and not a trend.

They're done. I've seen rhis movie before. No ball movement, no taking advantage of match-ups, and generally playing tight.

I’ve posted multiple times that I don’t believe they can win a championship with Middleton as the #2. I think they’re better this year with Jrue, but he’s not a legit super star that pushes Middleton down to the 3rd option. I like Middleton but he’s just not the caliber of player You can win a title with him paired with Giannis as your 1/2.

 

I’m not writing off this season simply because of the injuries in the league. If Harden and Embid miss games, then maybe. If the Nets are healthy then they’re done. They have a legit 1/1A/1B.

If you assume this series is going 6-7 games, it’s not the end of the world to head home down 0-2. If the Bucks win on Monday they will be in really good shape.

 

I tend to think some of the takes in this thread are going to age poorly. Middleton will be fine. The 3 pt shooting will improve. Too much underdog mentality by the fans. R-E-L-A-X.

Not sure I really follow the logic here. If you figured the series would go 6 or 7 games, it's not a big deal to start 0-2? A prediction of the series going 6 or 7 games is based on the uncertainty of a clean 0-0 slate. If you start down 0-2 that obviously changes the spectrum of likely series outcomes.

 

Historically teams that start 0-2 go on to lose the series 93.7% of the time. It is definitely a very big deal to not go down 0-2.
