Dude on ESPN picks Miami over the bucks in round 1. I don't like the matchup but Bucks in 6.

I wouldn't be surprised by an upset. The Heat were not a team I wanted to see versus the Bucks.

While the addition by subtraction of Bledsoe helps the Heat still create some challenging match ups for the Bucks.

This one might go 7.

Would love to see the Lakers get bounced in the play-in. That matchup with Golden State is probably way more sexy than any play-in game that the NBA ever expected to get.

Yeah but it's double elimination for the Lakers and Warriors, doubt either losses twice

If I am the Lakers I am losing that game so I don't have to play the Suns. If I am the Lakers I would rather play the Jazz than the Suns. It would be an extra game they would have to play but I think a series against the Jazz would be preferable than versus the Suns.

You could definitely be right but I can't imagine the Lakers fearing anyone. There's a reason they're currently the betting favorite to win the West even as a 7th place team.

On another note this is one of the most unpredictable NBA playoffs I can ever remember. There is a reasonable case for about ten teams right now to win the championship.

I just think the Jazz are an easier team to beat for the Lakers than the Suns are. The Lakers could easily eliminate both and if I am the Jazz or the Suns I would prefer the Warriors or Spurs over the Lakers or the Grizzlies. The Clippers maybe the toughest team the Lakers would have to face in the West. Preferably if you are the Lakers you would rather play the Nuggets in the 2nd round than the Clippers. The best 4 vs 5 matchup is in the West with the Clippers vs the Mavericks though the Knicks and the Hawks looks to be interesting.

It would be comical if the Lakers and the Celtics both get eliminated from the play in games.

I think it would be foolish to intentionally lose this first game. You really want to set yourself up for a one-and-done? Doesn't matter who you are playing, it just takes one game...

1980s karma coming back to bite them?

I hope that Holliday ends up being the difference that everyone was hoping for over Bledsoe.

I don't know how they will fare but there isn't much more upside with this team than where they're at. Their core is getting up there besides Giannis, there's not any super young budding stars on the roster or help coming in the draft, and their money is pretty much spent. What you see is what you got at this point. Maybe DDV gets a little better but I thought that was going to happen this year.

They aren't budding superstars by any stretch of the imagination & they won't be seeing the court during the postseason, but Nwora & Merrill both displayed skillsets in their limited minutes this year that should compliment Giannis nicely down the road.

As far as this season, now that its over, sure, the number one seed & homecourt would have been nice, but everybody is mostly healthy heading into the playoffs, so can't really ask for much more than that.

Also think that revenge vs Miami, beating the big three in Brooklyn, toppling one seed Embiid & then taking down whosoever comes out of the West would be a pretty epic playoff gauntlet to run for Giannis's first Larry O'Brien Trophy & would only make his already incredible story that much more miraculous.

Yeah, but that can change in a hurry. Middleton was a nobody. I liked him right away, but I still thought at best he was a 9ppg cute role player at best.

Diakite and Nwora definitely have upside. Diakite has a nice all around game, and Nwora can flat out score.

Agreed. Nwora seems like he could be a solid bench guy. I have a feeling he's a sieve on defense so he probably shouldn't be getting too many minutes but dude can score. Diakite is way better looking offensively than what I saw of him in college. If he keeps up that progression and puts on a few lbs he could get some serious burn. He's already 24 though so his ceiling might not be that high but that's ok.

The play-in tourney is beyond dumb. There is absolutely no reason to give the 10th seed a shot at the playoffs in a 72+ game season. They had their shot during the 72+ games. If 4 teams made the playoffs, it might make sense.

I’d argue anything more than 4 teams per conference is silly, but here we are. It’s obviously about the money.

This is from a league where players (and coaches) strategically plan to take losses in the name of ‘load management.’

Yup, the NBA is a month and a half long season (or however long the playoffs take these days)
