Bucks 2020-2021 season thread

adambr2
How often does Jrue actually bring the ball up? Giannis and Khris bring the ball up a ton. In the playoffs, will probably see Jrue play 36-40 minutes a game, so those 8-12 minutes he isn't playing, one of Giannis or Khris will probably be bringing up the ball during that time.

Well, right now Jrue's playing a little over 30 a game and he's missed about a third of the season.

I'm guessing the Bucks are going to b be looking real hard and trying to pick up another PG

But even during those 30 minutes a game he plays, he doesn't bring up the ball more than 50% of those possessions. I would even venture to say that number is a lot closer to 33%, because Giannis and Khris bring the ball up so often. They need to find someone who can play defense, hit an open 3, and possibly create their own shot regardless of position.

I don't get to watch many bucks games, so never noticed before, but merril looks like an extra from Hoosiers.

I had no clue the Celtics are under. 500. What happened to these guys? Aren't they supposed to be really good?

They are a good team but not a great team. I don't think anyone on that team is a #1 type of a player they are just a bunch of #2's and #3's though they have a bunch of #2's and #3's on their team. They should have a better record than what they have right now but I wouldn't call the Celtics a really good team.

That's his point though. Of course they're not a really good team, their record tells us that. But they should be. They were in the EC finals last season with essentially the same team.

Obviously it’s too early to say this, but at some point the bucks may realize that they made a horrible trade for tucker.

I mean they did not give up much and I did not expect much. I wouldn't call the trade horrible if Tucker never played a minute for us just on the basis of not having to eat Augustin's contract.

You may be right, but Tatum looks like a #1 to me. Just turned 23, a 6'9 wing. 25/7/4 a night and about 40 pct from 3 for his career. Jaylon Brown's numbers aren't far off, but Tatum is just more impressive to me.

There are rumors they're talking to Orlando about a trade, Smart+ 2 first rounders for Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier.

I don't know Gordon's game well enough to have a strong opinion, but if he's got the play making ability and can facilitate like Horford used to, he could be a great fit in Boston. A versatile big like Gordon who can shoot and jump out of the building, that might really open things up for them.

Besides getting rid of the Augustin contract, they essentially made that trade because Tucker has the ability to defend at a very high level against #1's. If you're looking at box scores he probably won't show up much besides an occasional 3. I haven't seen enough of him to know how well he's defended since joining the Bucks, but my guess is once he settles into the system he will be very useful in the playoffs. Even if it's only 12-15 minutes per game.

I'm guessing he and Brooks will swap out the majority duties depending on their opponent - play big against big teams and small against small teams.. That might help Brooks stay fresher too.

I get that he is taking on Wesley matthews role on this team. Also getting rid of a bunch of dead weight will help. I guess I did expect more offense than 3 points so far. I do also grant that a late 1st a s dropping a few picks in this draft isn’t a big loss.

I think Tucker will need some time to get used to the offense but even then I think he'll play fewer minutes than he did in Houston where he was getting 30 - 34 min/game. He's been a 6 to 7 PPG guy at that usage level, that will decline in proportion to his minutes played. Defense, rebounding and the occasional corner 3 is going to be his game. I expect less scoring than even Matthews provided.

It's kinda tough right now with Portis playing so well, but I have higher hopes for Tucker.

If nothing else, wasn't he one of the best defenders against KD in the NBA?

Tucker, Jrue, two guys who play better in the postseason. That's reason for optimism.

Don't get me wrong I think Tucker is a great add. But when you look at how Bud manages playing time only 3 guys average 30+ mpg, Giannis, Khris & Jrue. Even then Giannis is playing more minutes this season than he was the last two. It's just how it is. Lopez & DDV are getting 27 mpg and everyone else is 22 mpg or under. I'd expect Tucker to be in the 18 to 20 mpg range mostly for his defense. It's possible he gets more but you gotta think they'll be adding another guard to replace Augustin so that will be another guy to fit into the rotation.

Didn't really love how Bud finished that game throwing in the towel that early. With possession and a single digit game with over a minute left it was worth calling a timeout and putting some of your A players back in for a play.

Sorry you had to see a stinker. My first was sometime in the Mid 90's, and was definitely a stinker.

Yeah, that was no bueno. I said to my wife in warmups that I didn’t have a good feeling. Celtics were draining all their warmup shots, we were not, and we looked flat.

I feel bad for anyone who paid for a Bucks ticket for tonight not knowing they would be treated to the Wisconsin Herd instead. Good effort at least.

You could tell Thanasis really wanted this one.

They may have something with that Diakite kid
