Wisconsin vs Indiana game thread

I hope there's some urgency so if we do get a TD but miss the 2 point we're not down to like 5 seconds for an onside kick and score.

Well burning all their timeouts is certainly setting us up for that.

They'd have called PI on UW for that.

Wisconsin outgained them 342 - 220. Second game in a row. Field position matters.

And TOs

Ferguson is overrated and is a horrible receiver when it comes to tough or physical catches. He drops more passes when he has to fight for the ball if he is wide open he is a good TE otherwise he is garbage.

This has been such a disappointing team after the opening game.

Not to make excuses but that Covid shutdown really hurts when you have so many redshirt and true freshmen playing skill positions. Limited practice time, no game experience.

You can sugarcoat it any way you would like...but Graham Mertz has been straight up garbage for another game.

I didn't think he was that bad today. Not all that great but certainly not "garbage"

Wisconsin had 9 penalties, IU had 2.

That hold on Berger's long run was brutal.

Both Northwestern and Indiana had hidden yardage on pass interference penalties. Some were questionable during the Northwestern game but against Indiana's receivers, Badger corners played scared and were grabbing all over the place. Indiana made plays in the red zone too. Wisconsin didn't execute and the play calling there was atrocious.

Don't forget too, that Indiana lost about 60 yards of offense when that kid dropped that sure touchdown pass.

That one PI penalty was trash. That ball landed 8 feet out of bounds.

I like to think that we helped accelerate Tom Allen's departure from the Big Ten. Or his appointment at Michigan.

As for Bucky...hard to draw any conclusions about anything. Mertz looks like every other Wisconsin QB for 19 of the past 20 years, which is fine enough, but he has 3 years to get better.

I think an argument could be made that UW has a better record right now if Coan never gets hurt.

I think I’m questioning our offensive coaching staff more than anything this season. No identity at all on that side of the ball.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Sure but it seems like a lost season anyway so good time to get Mertz experience. The guy clearly has talent we haven't seen in a QB here since Wilson, it's better he gets his early stumbles out of the way this year. I feel like it is sort of rebuilding year anyway, usually that means 8-4 or 9-3 for us but looks like we have to hope for 3-2.

I agree. Probably better in the long run.

No talent at the skill positions. How can UW not have one or two stud RBs?

Berger is really good.

He had 15 carries for 87 yards yesterday and should have had like 110 yards if not for a holding penalty.

UW coaches/Chryst rarely talk about injuries, but I think between injuries and COVID there have been a lot of guys unavailable or banged up. At WR, Davis has missed the last two games, Prior missed one of the two and got knocked out of the other, Abbott has been hurt up until this week and Mustapha has missed time with injuries as well. At RB, Guerendo hasn't played since Illinois and Julius Davis hasn't played all year. Ferguson got injured during the NW game and hasn't been 100%, and despite moving Jaylan Franklin to TE he hasn't played all year.

Not sure why they have so many injuries at WR; over the last couple of years they sure have had a lot of injuries to backups during practice/training.
