You lose this game then you don't deserve a home playoff game

I think they lost HFA when they laid an egg at home against the Vikings.

Well, the Saints still have the Chiefs and the Vikes who somehow refuse to die. Probably have to win out though and you are right that is the game that will likely make the difference.

Defense played really well other than one dumb 4th down. Granted it's the Eagles but still...

How wild is the nfc right now? Despite obvious flaws, the packers are the best team in the conference, yet most of us have limited confidence in them making a long playoff run...at least until Brees proves he can play qb for the saints, I can't consider them the better team..

Let's just remember the Saints were without Michael Thomas while we were without Adams. I don't know what to think about the matchup. #2 seed currently gotta take it. Again I feel better about a game in NO than I do in GB under this covid season. Poor weather hurts GB more than it will other teams. Strength is passing, defense weakness is stopping the run from big plays. Add the Special Teams, I would want Crosby kicking it through the endzone vs allowing a return from the goal line to the 10yard line. This is actually good football to watch in December and heading in to playoffs. Sea and Rams play each other yet. Rams face Arizona. Minnesota faces Tampa and the Saints who will also face the Chiefs yet.

Green Bay should take care of business to the tune of a guaranteed #2 seed with a very good chance of being the 1seed. Though 5,6,7,8 seeds are Tampa, Minnesota, Arizona, and San Fran at the moment. Great road environments but teams that I worry for matchup. I'd rather see Rams or Seattle, or even New Orleans.

I think the big thing is getting the bye. Where they play is sort of immaterial to me.

I was unimpressed with Tony Romo’s call today. I keep hearing he is terrific (and I didn’t think he was bad), but I wasn’t blown away. I guess I don’t watch many CBS games.

Wasn't one of his better games. Maybe they reined him back on presnap calling out his guess what the play was about to happen seeing the two packages on the field. I feel your sentiment for today's game. That or, what GB is running on offense with Rodgers' abilities, guessing is out of his league, while with Philly's QBs he may just be better to guess, this is going to be a sack because Wentz is playing at such a poor level.

That play was disappointing but at least the D showed again they can shut down a bad offense. They always seem to let us down in the end, just last season I felt pretty good about them going into the NFCC game, but the talent is there if they can put it together.

Quick thoughts:

1)Obviously, not great to let them back in the game at the end after dominating for the first 50 minutes of the game. We do seem to let the foot off the gas too early, and today was illustrative of that. One Eagles drive vs. a prevent defense, followed by a three-and-out and terrible return TD, and we're lucky it didn't bite us in the butt like it did today for Chicago.

2)Special teams must play better. Missed XP, long punt return to make it a game, long kick return (PLUS a penalty) after the 'dagger' TD to make it un-daggered a bit. Horrible. Kudos to the Eagles for missing an XP that would have made things even more nerve-wracking.

3)Pass rush was great today- 7 sacks. Maybe that's enough to show Pettine that rushing the passer leads to good things? I know we have a good secondary. But they're even better when the QB is under duress.

4)Savage has made major strides as the year has gone on, and I believe he's becoming a top-tier safety.

5)Kudos to A)Preston Smith for his monster last few games in response to his terrible first-half season, and B)Rashan Gary for his continued development and solid performance. Honorable mention to Keke, who has played well this year in his snaps.

6)Not much more you can say about Rodgers, who is likely the MVP favorite right now, and in a two-man race with Maholmes now that Wilson/the Seahawks are fading a bit. Crazy good game to continue a great season for a guy that looked to be on the slide the last few seasons.

7)I'll admit that I haven't watched a single Cardinals game to see Hopkins play this year, but if there's a better receiver in the NFL right now other than Adams, I'd find it hard to believe. We've had a lot of great receivers come through Green Bay in the last 30 years of the team's success, and Adams might be the best of them not named Sharpe. And even that may be debatable by the end of his time here....

8)I said it earlier in the thread, but Tonyan has really become the TE we wanted Jimmy Graham to be for us. Huge match up problem for defenses, great red zone threat, and able to catch well in space in the middle of the field. What a great season for him so far.

On to the final quarter of the season. Two division road games and a tough one vs. the Titans, and I won't sleep on the Panthers either.

Which in past years would look pretty good to be staring at a 2 seed. But unfortunately you gotta have the 1 for that bye now.

Agreed - he's had his share of minor injuries that haven't kept him off the field for extended periods of time, but have limited his explosiveness. When he's healthy he's a rangy safety that can make plays all over the field, and it seems like something's clicked in terms of enough game experience to give him the confidence to play fast using his instincts. Then again it always helps when you're playing against bad quarterbacks! Hoping to see his development continue.
