Sounds like either could happen.

MLB Draft League president Kerrick Jackson: "Hopefully we will be able to create an environment where some (MLB) teams will allow their players to finish out the summer (in the draft league)."

Do we know what happened to this league for this year? Was it shelved due to COVID restrictions? I don't recall hearing much about this since it was first reported on towards the end of last year.

I think they consider the league a big success thus far, as the six teams made it through the first half of the season, then had 39 players drafted in the shortened 20-round MLB Draft, with at least another 6 players signed as NDFAs.
