The Montgomery run only had an expected gain of 5-yards. So yeah the Packers run D is horrible. Take into account the Bears have one of the worst offensive lines it makes that run even worse.

It was one play

The Bears also rushed for more yards than they have since they played against the Falcons in week 3. The Bears offensively for the run rank dead last. The Bears offensive line is also the worst in the league. Not just one play but looking at that one play you can see the Packers are bad at defending the run game. The Packers are ranked 25th on Y/C defensively that is bad.

Also I am not a Packers fan at all so not over reacting to just the one bad run play. It is the Packers whole run defense and they give up way to many long run plays.

See the Vikings game as more proof of the poor run defense.

I think we know the Packers run D isn't good. I think the question is whether it's personnel or scheme or a combination. One of those you can fix the other you have to live with. There have been a few flukey long runs (Tampa Bay comes to mind) where the defense just didn't seem like they knew what to do pre-snap.

Just speculating here but I think the Packers are one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to stopping the opposing teams RB both in the run and the passing game.

If I were an NFL coach my game plan to beat the Packers offensively would be to focus on getting the RB as many plays as possible either by running or throwing short passes to the RB. Once the defense adjusts hit them with play action and watch the big plays happen.

I think Tampa and Arizona would be nightmare match ups for the Packers defense and could knock them out of the playoffs 49ers style.

I'm wondering how much the churn at MLB this year contributes to their run/pass defense at RB. Kirksey, Martin, and Barnes are all individually skilled. But between the three, they've hardly played consistently together even through game 11. Throw in Greene, and that is another variation in the group.

Barnes: Games 1-8

Kirksey: Games 1-3, 10-12

Martin: Games 7-8, 10-12

Greene: Games 2-4, 6-7, 9-12
