Scouting Changes

Most teams don't appear to be announcing downsizing. By looking at the Brewers front office directory (if it is accurate) the Brewers let go of seven scouts including Bianchi, Kuenn, Jr., and Scholtzen. With the likely elimination of two levels of minor league teams, it would make sense that 7-8 minor league coaches would also be leaving the organization.

Just the two rookie leagues. Only low-A, high-A, AA and AAA will be left.

Not including Rookie ball at the spring training sites, MLB teams had 5-6 affiliates. Each team will be restricted down to four. The Brewers were one of the majority of teams with five and the Colorado Springs team would be the one up for elimination.

It will be interesting to see if Ray Montgomery is "replaced". It wouldn't surprise me if Ray leaving the organization shifts them even farther to "analytical" drafting, as Montgomery was known for liking the physical attributes of young athletes.

Congratulations to Tim McIlvaine on his new position with the Angels. It will be interesting to see if the team promotes from within to fill their opening.
