The best Badger team in my lifetime lost a game to a 10-22 team. They managed to overcome this and make it to the last game of the season. The same night Rutgers beat Wisconsin Michigan State needed overtime to beat Northwestern at home. MSU had 4 players who would play in the NBA and made it to the Elite 8, yet they needed OT to beat a 15-19 team at home.

The second best Badger team in my lifetime lost at home to a 14-19 team, plus 7 other times. They managed to make it to the second to the last game of the season.

If I had to guess, I'd guess this is not a final 4 team. But they could very easily be a sweet 16 team, which I'll take. Either way, this will more than likely not be the last time WI loses to a team thought to be inferior to them. And it won't preclude them from having a good, or even great, season.

Chris

In case people don't remember, in 2018 Maryland had the #7 ranked recruiting class in the nation. Wiggins was a top-50 recruit, Ayala a top-100 recruit. In 2019, Maryland had the #29 ranked recruiting class in the nation. Donta Scott was a top-150 player. Darryl Morsell was a top-100 recruit in 2017. Jairus Hamilton, who transferred there from Boston College, was a top-100 recruit.

Maryland is a very talented team that has underperformed. They can beat anyone on any given night.

Yup. And this really goes for the whole B1G. Just a ridiculous league. And low-possession games for Wisconsin means you're just going to drop a few here and there.

My concern: no pros. Trice is good. Becoming a real go-to. But they don't have anyone on the level of Marcus Carr, for example. They are seriously disciplined and tough, and they really defend, but that lack of a big-time talent means they just need to shoot well to win, and there's a lot of randomness there.

No Carlson again. Is he red shirting?

He has some upper body issue he's working through.

Closest thread to put this in....

The NCAA has developed their plans for the basketball tournament: everything in Indianapolis or about 90 minute drive (West Lafayette, Bloomington, possibly Muncie).

Details in the link below. Hope the bubble concept works. Would be great to experience in person, particularly if there were no COVID restrictions on attendance.

Still waiting for the proverbial "next shoe to drop" between the UW and Penn State basketball teams. Wisconsin next plays at home on Thursday; Penn State on Wednesday. If both of those games go off without a player sitting out, it would appear one or both teams dodged a contact-tracing bullet.

Why would anyone red shirt in a year that doesn’t count towards eligibility for anyone? He can play every game this year and still be a freshman next season.

I read on Buckyville he has a back issue. Posters saying spinal fracture, done for the year.

Not to be a downer, but I think the last think the NCAA wants is thousands of fans in an enclosed arena screaming their lungs out.

This tweet from the basketball Twitter account says the Badgers were resuming practice on Monday which would indicate the issues were on Penn States end.

Coach Gard appears to confirm the COVID-test concerns were on the Penn State end, not with the Badgers.

If the games can't be played because the players caught COVID, the NCAA doesn't make money.

Fans are going to give them COVID? Seems quite far fetched. Numerous NCAA basketball teams are currently doing it. I heard 6 feet is a good distance...most of these teams allowing fans probably don’t have fans within 50 feet of players etc.

I just glanced at the polls and there must be some sort of misprint there. Impossible to think this could happen when just 11 months ago the program's future was completely ruined due to the defection of one player.
