This Clemson ND game has to be a defacto elimination game for the playoffs right? Especially with Clemson winning big right now?

So many other sports expanded their playoffs, can’t believe college football didn’t. In a year as crazy as this it absolutely should’ve been an 8 team playoff, or at minimum a 6 team with 2 byes.

Why? It's going to be Alabama and Clemson again. Why waste everybody's time? They actually should reduce it to a two team playoff.

If Florida could find a way to beat Alabama that would throw a huge wrench into the selection. I love chaos so I’m all for it. They got it cut to a one score game.

Guess it would take a TO or onside kick. The defense isn’t putting up much resistance. Alabama OL is gigantic.

In a different year, I think so. But only two of the Power 5 teams produced an undefeated champion this year. While I hate to admit it, A 1-loss Notre Dame team (who played a complete schedule) has a pretty good case.

As much as it would hurt big ten school coffers, I'd love to see notre dame and Texas a &m make it and squeeze OSU out of consideration...

I think a&m has a stronger case than notre dame based on yesterday's results and those two schools body of work. OSU probably gets in, but their signature win being Indiana is pretty weak sauce for a 6 win conference champ.

Why does ND deserve to get in? Their big win was against a depleted Clemson. Other than that they have a win against 25 UNC. Oh yea, also a 5 point win against Louisville at home. The biggest thing is that they played a complete schedule, so I guess I could get behind that.

OSU has 2 wins over top 14 teams (Indiana & Northwestern)..

How many does Texas A&M have?

How many does Notre Dame have?

The Buckeyes are in... I would place Cincinnati (undefeated conference champ) in over both A&M and ND...

its 2020.. let a non-power 5 team in & see what happens..

My 4 would be Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas AM

I think that ESPN/Disney goes with Notre Dame over AM.

Fixed that for you.

Too bad they haven't figured out a way to make a fair three-team bracket because that's what it should be this year.

We already knew the system was rigged but with dwindling revenue they are not even trying to hide it this year. I have zero interest in watching two blowouts followed by another Alabama-Clemson championship game. The only thing I'm interested to know is if Ohio State is actually good or not.

Cincinnati got hosed.

I'm a Big 12 hater and not necessarily a fan of computer rankings (although college football ranking computer rankings are unbiased in terms of television ratings so that is a big positive), but it's worth noting that the Sagarin rankings had Oklahoma #4 and Oklahoma is a Power 5 Conference Champion.

1 - Alabama

2 - Ohio State

3 - Clemson

4 - Oklahoma

5 - Georgia

6 - Florida

7 - Texas A&M

8 - Notre Dame

9 - Iowa

10 - Iowa State

Others of interest-

13 - Cincinnati (9-0)

14 - Indiana (6-1)

15 - Brigham Young (10-1)

17 - Oregon (4-2, highest Pac 12 team)

18 - Southern California (5-1)

38 - Coastal Carolina (11-0)

I wonder how FCS football will do this Spring in terms of ratings?

Most FCS conferences will be running from late February to mid-April. They won’t be up against the NFL or even major college football. Can they fill a programming void for football-starved fans?

About that Alabama Clemson rematch...

Fields is really hurt though. Can they hang on if he can't continue to play through the pain? If this lingers till the championship game will they have a shot against bama, if they even had one if he were healthy?

Another year, another semifinal round with two blowouts. Increasing the number of teams in the playoff will not provide more realistic chances, or add anything to the entertainment value. The talent gap between 1-4 is just too large. More teams won’t change that.
