In case anyone wants to be reminded of how they felt about him 1 year ago:

Oh no! Not a gold glove! Lol, if there is any award I couldn't care less about, it is this one. Who cares? Cain has been like the best CF in the game for a decade and we basically had to beg them to give him at least one in his career. It is a complete and utter joke and no one should give a damn, at all.

While I agree that Gold Gloves are overrated, it's a good indication that the notion that Grisham couldn't stick in center has been shown to be false -- and gold glove or not, Grisham was an excellent player in 2020 - definitely everything the most optimistic of fans here thought he could be.

The award doesn't mean much in and of itself. But for a team that values defense and versatility, it looks like the Brewers traded away a young home grown player who fits that bill, AND can hit a little bit.

I agree, the award has become almost meaningless. Remember Ozuna won a gold glove in 2017 and by any stretch of the imagination he is and was a well below average defender.

It has lost much of its meaning. But Grisham was legitimately deserving based on pretty much every defensive metric. The Gold Glove voting has seemingly been better the last 2 years too.

I am happy for Trent.

He makes one bobble in RF, in a series of screw-ups, in that playoff game, and he's pretty much scapegoated.

Since Davies is now allowed to pitch, godforbid, 6 innings, and since Urias seems overmatched, so far, it looks like a very bad deal for Stearns.

Is there a large group of people actually blaming him for that game? Hader was the one walking and hitting everybody, the tying run scored easily on the hit, and (I don't remember with 100% certainly but) wouldn't it have taken an absolutely perfect play from Grisham to prevent the go ahead run from scoring? Even if I'm wrong about that last part, the game is 100% on Hader, or Counsell for leaving him in when he clearly didn't have it.

I honestly don't remember him getting beat up too badly here...

I would’ve forgot he was a Brewer if I wasn’t on this board. Never hear anyone else even reference him let alone blame him for anything.

I Give him a lot of credit as he continues to prove his doubters wrong and gets better. Power, speed, defense and on base abilities. If he can get that average up a bit he will be one of the best in baseball. His profile is certainly higher this year playing on that fun Padre team and getting lots of national attention after that HR off Kershaw. Too bad it's not on the Brewers but good for him. Maybe the Brewers should stop trading 23 year olds to the Padres.

I'm probably the one who most said he is not a CF. I still say that. I claim SD would have saved runs with a better CF. The guys he was competing against were not good either (Bellinger!?). Good metrics may just be the result of playing in SD in the big outfield. Anyway, I saw him play CF in the same stadium, same opponents as Harrison and Ray and I still claim the latter two are better CF than Grisham. I always liked Grisham but as a corner.

I don't think people really gave Grisham much hate for his mishap in RF. If I remember correctly more people defended him and just put the blame on Hader. Which is pretty fair, Hader was absolutely stinking the joint up. If the Nationals were tying up that game regardless I think most thought we would end up losing anyway.

It was still a pretty giant choke job by Grisham.
