LaRussa managing White Sox

Didn't he try to big-league the cops to get out of the first one too?

And if he tried big leaguing his way out of the two he got, it makes me wonder how many times its actually worked and how many others he successfully talked/threatened/bribed his way out of.

Thought this was interesting. Stroman won't consider the White Sox as long as LaRussa is the manager...lol

Marcus Stroman indicated on his Twitter account on Tuesday morning that he has ruled out signing with the White Sox as long as Tony La Russa is manager.

"No amount of money honestly," when asked by a fan about the possibility. "Peace of mind is always priority." La Russa's hiring came under fire for his previous comments on race and the decision by the White Sox is being scrutinized even more after it was learned late Monday that the Hall of Famer was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on October 28. It was the second-known DUI arrest for La Russa. The White Sox were reportedly aware of the most recent DUI, but he's not in danger of losing his job. Still, that even one player would rule out signing with the club should be a matter of serious consideration. We're not sure Jerry Reinsdorf is going to care, though.

So, the sanctimonious ahat former manager of the Cardinals that would pontificate about every player that violated his imaginary "code" got a DUI, and tried to get out of the arrest with the "I'm a Hall of Famer baseball person"?

LOL. That's rich. Here I thought he was such a paragon of virtue. :laughing

The man is 76 years old and comes with a large amount of baggage. Yep, makes sense.... There is no upside to this hire, unless they are completely in a win now... like this year win now, mode. Even then, you can't tell me there isn't a qualified manager that is younger and could lead a franchise, not just coach a team. If I'm hiring a manager I'm looking at it as a 6+ year investment ideally. He's not even likely to be alive that long.

This hire reminds me of when the Red Sox hired Bobby Valentine in 2012. Every sensible Red Sox fan knew the hire was terrible. Valentine, predictably, alienated everyone in the clubhouse and media. He was fired after the season and then John Farrell lead the Sox to a WS championship in 2013.

So to me, the question is who will manage the White Sox in 2022. Because I'm pretty certain it won't be LaRussa.

I think so. The "I only had one glass of wine" part seems really familiar. This guy has always been a turd. All over all the little fingers in his hand.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Under Reinsdorf, the White Sox have been all about embracing "the world is against us" clowns like LaRussa, Harrelson, Pierzynski, Don Cooper, Ed Farmer, Guillen...and now LaRussa Mach II.

When Sox fans are allowed back, after the game, they better get home first before their drinky manager rear-ends them on the Dan Ryan.

Ignoring the really bad initial decision to bring back a 76YO with cognitive issues who's probably killed substantial numbers of brain cells with his share of "drinking" and has not much in common with current ballplayers than 23 chromosomes.

Is 'Dorf just too cheap to hire a driver for him?

At least they would know where he is (seems he keeps breaking his iphones by trying to flip them shut) and then they don't have to pay the high rates in Chicago to make those pull overs disappear.

Seriously, though, after a home game ends, wouldn't it be a baller move to have a chauffeur ready to drive you back to your mansion on Beer Baron Row, instead of unceremoniously having to drive home alone?

LaRussa can afford a fleet of limos, and a team of drivers. He IS a "Hall of Fame baseball guy" and I'd wager that Reinsdorf is enriching TLaR's bank account, by a few mil more.

Hell, LaRussa, SOBER, is possibly too old to keep getting that driver's license renewed. So fortheloveofgod, keep this 76-year-old drunk off the streets of my town!
