Bucks 2020 offseason thread

When all is said and done Giannis will go down as third only to Lombardi and Starr in Wisconsin sports lore. I'll give him the nod over Yount because I'm happy.

Judging by the number of Favre jerseys I still see regularly worn, he's up there too. Lets not write off Aaron Rodgers quite yet, either.

Portis is a jerk which is probably a good thing for the Bucks

Why is Portis a jerk?

he has an edge to him that rubs people the wrong way. I think he likes to jaw a lot on the court and get in opponents faces. he's one of those guys you hate on the other team but love on your team.

Ok...you use Jerk differently than I would. Jerk to me is a PC way of saying he's an arsehole.

You've used it with a couple guys where it makes sense now given this definition. Definitely what you want though.

Dennis Rodman was one of the biggest Jerk's in NBA history by this logic(and most other to be fair). So I'll take that type of Jerk anyday.

I would say Favre is above Starr...and Rodgers maybe by the time he's done.

Anyway, that only happens if he WINS a couple of chips. I wonder if there is an opt-out or anything to keep the pressure on the Bucks.

I'm running around fist pumping while on a work Zoom Meeting.

I've got a potentially difficult and contentious zoom meeting at 1pm and I am so giddy I don't even care.

My situation is funny because I am now in LA and work for a company out of Chicago.

I'm already making that assumption, especially since it wouldn't have to be anything written in the contract. Paul George had that with OKC--"I'll sign the max deal, but if I decide I want out, you have to trade me." It's not like Milwaukee has any leverage to say no.

OKC didn't have to trade George...all the pressure was on the Clippers. They gave up a ridiculous haul for George. A ton of 1sts and probably the best player in that trade came from LA. I'd take Alexander right now.

The Bucks leverage would be control of Giannis for the next 5 seasons. So the opt out after the 4th isn't a real big deal. I was thinking it'd be after year 2 or 3.

I know this happens all of the time. Have other teams been punished? What about all of those recruitment texts Giannis supposedly received and shared with ownership?

Depends on which market they are in. If it is NY, Chicago, LA or Miami then no. If it is a small market team then yes. Actually the NBA is completely inconsistent on this rule and they barely if ever enforce it as the Clippers have been under investigation for Kawhi and well nothing happened on that one.

OG Anunoby just signed a 4-year, $72 million extension. He started all but one game for the Raptors last year and was part of their championship team in 2019. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the player that was drafted with the first round pick the Bucks traded away to rent Greivis Vasquez for 23 games.

Ha. ‘Salty’ perfectly describes how I feel about that short-sighted move. Have you heard the expression ‘we’re only one Greivis Vasquez away from a championship?’ Me either. Their championship window wasn’t open yet. Why burn an asset to eek out a few more wins?

It was Herb Kohl's eternal quest for the 8th seed.

I believe this was under the new ownership group, as I recall reading Kidd wanted an experienced point guard.

You are correct. I was off by a year.

Kohl sold in 2014, Grievous (spelling intentional) was traded for in 2015.

This is almost funny. Amazing how they were reporting that the Hawks would be signing Bogdan for..."something like" 4 years and 72 million the second the Bucks deal fell apart(but before they were able to talk to him).

Whatever though. If this deal had gone through and we'd gotten Bogdan, would the NBA have voided it? I understand they didn't with Kawhi, but they found out about the supposed middle man after they signed him and some time had passed. In this case, they speculated immediately.

Anyway, I'm fine with the off-season. Not perfect, but they added a much better PG and a couple of really nice pieces.

They really can't afford any more screw up's if they're going to win though. Like getting rid of Christian Wood for Pau Gasol or not understanding how the cap works or...whatever it may be.

With the season underway probably time to start a new thread. Divincenzo is doing a good job of saying Bogdan who and I don't know who half of these players are lol.
Remember what Yoda said:
