Bucks 2020 offseason thread

patrickgpe
Some dude(high heat?) is saying a league source(probably fake) is saying the Bucks are trying to get a 3rd team involved and are pushing for the Beard. He has 5k followers on the twitters, but doesn't have his name behind it. I don't see it working, but it may be more of them showing Giannis they are willing to do anything to improve the team.

I don't believe Harden would improve the team more like destroy it. Harden doesn't know what passing is.

I would go all-in on Harden. Whatever is costs. I don’t think the Bucks can win as constructed, so why not take a chance? If Giannis left, they could still recoup some value for Harden because he’ll have a year left on his contract. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

i read that the rockets want KD or Kyrie back from the nets for Harden. Middleton is a nice player but he isnt those 2. I can't see there being a match.

Well, you don't always get what you want... Probably depends a bit on how difficult Harden will make it on Houston if they don't trade him.

I'm torn on the concept of him on the Bucks. I can see him being that can't-win=because-I-won't-be-a-team-player type guy (Barkley). But I haven't followed him enough to know if he is frozen in his ways too. Westbrook wasn't the best there either. Harden on the team will get a lot of Giannis kick-outs, so if he would reciprocate, they would be really, really tough to beat.

Though, losing Lopez in the middle with leave a huge hole in their defense too. They barely have a backup now and they rely on him heavily to clean up their D. [sarcasm]Maybe their games would become All-Star numbers (150-140).[/sarcasm]

I think if he were on the team, he basically becomes our backup PG; functionally at least. That may still be a reduction of ball-handling, but maybe a decent middle-ground solution.

But I still think it is more a fantasy than an actual possibility.

I would assume the odds of this happening were infinitesimal.

But it's something to discuss until the season starts.

I'm sure that is what the Rockets WANT...but they're almost certainly not getting that. Definitely not KD. I'm pretty torn on Kyrie, but the whole point was to get him and KD together.

i put that into the ESPN trade machine and it was accepted, although I don't know how accurate that is.

Yeah, it looks like you have to know Houston's situation better. The trade machine actually says a trade for Middleton and Wilson for Harden works because of trade exception Houston has.

And Eric Nehm's response when I pointed this out to him:

Makes sense. Any trade machine you use will say it works because the *trade* works. It’s the underlying cap rules that come after the trade is completed that keep it from working.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That makes sense. The NBA's CBA is so damn complicated, I would have been surprised if it accounted for ALL the potential complications. As far as I know, the Bucks are hard-capped. They can't even sign anyone to a minimum contract at this time unless they get some cap relief for Leuer.

Yes, exactly. Harden for basketball and Leo Crawford on the baseball side of WI sports. Not much else. :(

Portis is a jerk which is probably a good thing for the Bucks

Why is Portis a jerk?

he has an edge to him that rubs people the wrong way. I think he likes to jaw a lot on the court and get in opponents faces. he's one of those guys you hate on the other team but love on your team.

Giannis is signing supermax with Bucks.

I love this twitter response:

Big Ben Tonyan

I LOVE YOU NEVER LEAVE ME LIKE MY WIFE DID IN 98

I didn't doubt he would sign it, but I'm glad the east/west coast speculation will stop now. Tired of all the articles of how XYZ team will get Giannis...

I'm running around fist pumping while on a work Zoom Meeting.

I've got a potentially difficult and contentious zoom meeting at 1pm and I am so giddy I don't even care.
