RIP Eddie Van Halen

He had been battling throat cancer for a decade.

 

His guitar playing was so innovative. Early Van Halen was legendary. Loved everything they did through 1984. And while the Hagar stuff has it's place it's not on the same level as the earlier work, IMO.

Ouch. Eddie was one-in-a-million. Saw him back in the day on the 1984 tour.

Sad day in the rock and roll world, what is left of it anyway...

 

I wonder if smoking 2 packs of cigs a day for the last 45 years had anything to do with his throat cancer?

Funny you mention that. Eddie claimed it was from the guitar picks he kept between his teeth.

I saw that... Different way of thinking I guess, but I'd suspect his doctors might have different opinions...
