From Mike Vassallo:

Avisail Garcia went 3-for-4 last night in Game 1 of the NLWCS. García has had 6 career plate appearances against tonight’s starter Clayton Kershaw, going 4-for-4 with a double and 2 walks.

Christian Yelich is a career .409 hitter (9-for-22, 4bb) with 2 HR against Clayton Kershaw. He is hitless (0-for-4, 1bb) against Kershaw in the postseason.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Whatever happens, the Brewers putting two runs across last night means they had a better postseason showing than the Reds. So much for the Reds making noise. Their hot last couple weeks ended up being fool's gold.

For me the lack of Reds' offense has been one of the biggest surprises of this season. I'll admit I was one of the people that thought they'd go deep into the playoffs.

I still wouldn't write them off, especially if they keep most of their core, because I'm of the persuasion that we shouldn't draw many conclusions from an abbreviated 60 game season.

But it sucks for them to lose Bauer and possibly Castellanos. Not to mention Votto and Moose aren't getting any younger.

Brent Suter: "I felt like I let the team down, big time." He admitted nerves were a factor. Tried everything he could to disengage and lock back in, with no success." "It's a very lonely feeling. It almost felt like an effect of the whole world zooming in. I couldn't make the adjustment. ... It's a bad, bad feeling."

So it does happen. :laughing

He is likable fellow but he has no business being a key pitcher in the play offs. I actually felt bad for him more than angry. He just isn’t a good pitcher and shouldn’t be out there.

This is complete nonsense.

Ron/Joey - you’ve always been one of my favorite posters on here. Curious as to why the Reds and the Braves (specifically their pitching prospects) grind your gears so much? Genuinely curious as you post on that frequently. For the record, I don’t disagree with your evaluation. They both are very over hyped.

So a guy who wasn't good enough to play for us during the regular season is batting clean-up in a playoff elimination game. That is asinine, and just adds to the many ridiculous decisions our manger has made this year.

I hate this season, just really hate it!

You hit the nail on the head ... both are very overhyped - the Reds more recently, and the Braves, for, well, ever.

With the Reds, there was just so much "OMG the Reds are sooooo much better than the Brewers" after their spending spree last year. The thing is, the Reds were trash last year, and they were trash this year, right up until about 10 days before the end of the season. They went on a run, and took advantage of the other teams around them (the Cards, Brewers and Cubs) playing poorly or mediocre up till the end. The Reds were a train wreck of inconsistency for the majority of the year, probably even moreso than the the Brewers, which is saying something.

Next spring, when they are projected among the leaders, probably after spending foolishly again, I'm going to again say "not so fast." In all honesty, I wanted Moose back, and was perturbed not only when they signed him, but signed him for so much.

I've had an axe to grind with the Braves hype for awhile, simply because the prospect writers for years have slobbered all over their young pitching, yet they seem to hardly ever graduate any. Of course, the last two days of games to not help my argument there. Fried and Anderson were studly.

Man, looking at the lineup I'm not too confident we can score many runs tonight, and we're going to need to.

Teams that scored 5 or more runs against LA in 2020-15 wins, 9 losses

Teams that scored 4 or fewer runs against LA in 2020-2 wins, 34 losses

The only way to make the numbers work in our favor is to score 5 or more runs. And even then, there's only a 62.5% chance of winning because their offense is so fricking good.

Turbo, this offense literally and figuratively sucks. At this point, what have they got to lose? It is obvious that Vogelbach is a platoon bat, and Braun must be too hurt to swing. Who are you gonna DH? A junk lefty bat like Peterson or Sogard? Kershaw owns lefty hitters. The only other righty hitter not in the lineup besides Braun is Freitas.

This is exactly right. He isn’t good enough to be on the roster all season, but becomes a cleanup hitter in an elimination game? Yikes....

Hopefully the Brewers pull off a miraculous victory tonight, but this lineup would have a tough time scoring runs against a AAA squad. I expect major roster turnover once again this offseason.
