2020-09-30 (NL Wild Card Series): Brewers (Suter) at Dodgers (Buehler) [Brewers lose, 4-2 -- Suter’s early struggles prove too much for offense to overcome; Yardley and Topa combine on solid effort out of bullpen]

If anything Brewers have to feel like they can win this thing. Suter being scared to death was a killer.

I was wondering if Suter was freaked out being on the stage today. If you remember, he had some trouble in the Wild Card game last year, too.

He got the first two outs, gave up a single, Moustakas made an error and then he got the next hitter out. So 1 inning, 1 hit. Not really trouble.

27 pitches, which for him is a lot for one inning. I am convinced that Counsell was planning for him to pitch the 5th and 6th inning in that game, then hand the ball to Pomeranz for the 7th and 8th before going to Hader in the 9th. Suter throwing all those pitches in one inning moved the pitchers up. The rest is a sad history.

He was probably just a little too fired up today. It's too bad, because the rest of the pen was terrific.

Cleveland giving up 22 runs in two games with a vaunted pitching staff including ace Shane Bieber getting shelled in game 1 oddly makes me feel better about the Brewers holding their own against the best offense in baseball tonight.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Except that wasn’t the plan. When Suter struggled, it meant everything got moved up an inning. Pomy should have pitched later and Hader shouldn’t have been in until the 9th

I think at some point we as Brewers fans have to recognize that Craig Counsel is just not a very good manager. Ryan Braun in right field because Counsell insists on his beloved “Sogie” in the lineup despite the .286 OBP, zero power, and lack of arm at third base is just brutal. It’s clear that Braun should have DH’d, with Vogelbach at first, Gyrko at Third, and Taylor in RF.

What benefit does Narvaez serve the Brewers at present? Nottingham isn’t much better, but he’s better.

Why did it take so long to get people warming up in the first inning? That was like watching a Head Coach of a high school team flinch when his plan didn’t go right. And then to send Suter out for another inning? Just stunning.

Sadly, all true.

I'm not a CC hater, but he deserves a lot of criticism this year.

By the way, Suter does not like the "bright lights."
