2020 MLB Postseason: AL & NL Wild Card Series

Eye Black
Apparently the Cubs game is postponed. Here is the future radar for 3:30pm:

But the postponement does line up Hendricks to start Game 1 of an NLDS series now ... methinks shenanigans are afoot.

I hope the Marlins put up a 15-spot tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure the league, not the home team, decides whether or not to play a playoff game.

My “conspiracy theory” is that the league wanted to make sure they have at least one prime time game with a big market team tomorrow. If the series goes to Saturday, all the better. Why waste a Cubs game on a Thursday afternoon?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Cardinals kind of own Davies if I remember right.

Padres fans seem to think they “unlocked” something in Davies this year, but the truth is his stretch this year was nearly identical to a stretch he had last year except for a somewhat higher strikeout rate. The more familiarity hitters develop facing him in the NL West may prove to be the same solid, but unspectacular results he’s had for a while.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I did see that he has thrown his change up 40% this year to a 170 batting average or something. Last year he threw it about 30% and it was like a 200 BA. The previous years it was around 10% and the BA was much higher. So perhaps that's been helping him.

I'm telling you, the Cardinals are winning the World Series this year.

I’ve been thinking that too. The only team that might stop them is the Dodgers.

Look at the numbers. You have to score at least 5 runs against the Dodgers to stand a chance. And once you do, your odds are still only a little better than a coin flip.

Cards will get served their humble pie in the NLDS.

That’s the one consolation to the Brewers losing the Dodgers series.

Nope. This is the type of season the Cardinals usually go all the way: the seasons they have no business winning. 2006 they were an 83 win team. 2011 it took a Braves collapse in September to get them in the playoffs. This year they had to deal with a covid outbreak and play a plethora of doubleheaders and get into the playoffs on the last day. It's destiny. They're just a charmed franchise, and I hate them.

We shall see. But I think you underestimate how amazingly good the Dodgers truly are. And luckily, they will play the Cards should they defeat the Brewers.

The Dodgers are my secondary team. I know how good they are.

It doesn't matter.

I hear you. I only wish they would play each other in a 7 game series which would favor LA even more. My one concern in that series is Buehler’s blister issue. But I still think the Dodgers will expose the Cards as a mediocre team at best.

They are fired up in SD. Fun team.

It is a fun team, I’ve been able to watch quite a few of their games this year. If the Brewers lose this series to the Dodgers, I’ll be rooting for the Padres to make the World Series (assuming they get by the Cardinals).

I'll take a seat on that train too.
