2020-09-27: Brewers (Anderson) at Cardinals (Gomber) [Brewers lose, 5-2 -- Clinch spot in Postseason]

Huira is the anti Vogelbach.

Two strikes means you swing as hard as humanly possible no matter the location.

Maybe someone on this board can use sabremetrics to make us all feel better about that horrible, non-competitive at-bat by Hiura.

Is there an offensive equivalent to the "pitching lab" at Maryvale? Because if anyone needs the kind of offseason Corbin Burnes had last year, it is Hiura.

Haines magic has it all worked out.

So we have 2 hits so far today. As far as I'm concerned Haines being fired has to be the first move of the offseason.

Amen brother. outside of maybe the guy in Cincinnati he's probably the worst hitting coach in the big leagues right now

the most annoying thing on that strike three pitch is if he gives up a little bit on the swing he could probably have hit that ball very hard in the right. But instead he swung so damn hard he had no chance to hit it.

Is there a chance that someone on the coaching staff, anyone, has talked to him about over swinging with 2 strikes? I mean, he does it consistantly. You would think that he has at least had that conversation with at least one member of the coaching staff 100 times this year, right?

They can hire any random fan as the hitting coach and the results wouldn't be any worse.

Hell of a pic by jerko.

And another awful throw from 40 feet away by Huira

It astounds me that his throws continue to be that bad. I know he had elbow issues at the end of his college career, but I mean, he played the field before that. He has spent years throwing a baseball, but you wouldn't know it by looking at him on that throw. Sometimes it looks like he's a high school football player who got shanghaied into covering a season of baseball by a desperate coach.

So people rip on Freddy for not getting it done today or whatever pitcher doesn't shut down the opponent completely but the fact is this offense just fails day in and day out.

Exactly. Doesn't matter how bad the pitchers perform. Still have to score some runs to win.

And I stand by my position. Williams comes in and strikes out the side, and you still have 6 innings to fill. The fact that Peralta was the choice says something about the other options.

Maybe Yardley or Knebel if the goal is to try to get out of the third inning, but not Williams who you know you’re going to need if you have a chance to win at the end.

But you aren't down 0-4...

Scoring 5 runs for this team at times is near impossible.

Another aspect of this is that Peralta should have been on alert that he was going to be the first man out of the bullpen. So, he should have been mentally ready to come in on short notice. A late inning pitcher isn’t going to be prepared to come in about 2 hours before they would even start thinking about it.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

2-run HR for the Giants. 5-3 now.

The announcers are talking like the Brewers are headed to LA. Might not want to count those chickens yet.

Exactly!

Yeah, I didn’t understand why they were talking like that.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The Padres have pulled their starters are are throwing their bad pitchers. That one does not look great for us. Glad they have a 2 run cushion but it doesn't inspire confidence.

They will probably be doing us a favor by letting the Giants win, I still want to back in but really with Burnes out and this offense we are toast.
