2020-09-26: Brewers (Woodruff) at Cardinals (Wainwright) [Brewers win, 3-0 -- Woodruff pitches masterpiece; No Cardinals batter touches second base]

Eye Black

Woodruff goes 8 and Hader autopilots a scoreless 9th for a shutout. Narvaez has a decent day.

Bad days for the people who love to be critical of those guys. Though to be fair I’m usually critical of Arcia...hard to complain about much today.

Great win! Let’s get some losses tonight and a win tomorrow! Go crew!!!

I'm very excited at the prospect of having Woodruff and Burnes at the top of next year's rotation. Need to identify one more starter they can count on, though. I wouldn't mind bringing Anderson back, as he's been solid this year. Lindblom will still be around as well, as will Houser, Peralta and Lauer. Need one of those guys to step up.

I don't want to see any of those start the year as our #3. We need an actual reliable guy for that role, not an Anderson type, and 100% for sure not Houser, Lindblom, or Lauer. I'd love to see Peralta make strides to fill that role though, but I'd rather see him start out as our #4 or #5 if given the chance.

Woody two, Burnes three. Go get a difference maker at the top.

THAT I can get on board with!

I wonder if they would give Suter another shot at starting. Throughout his career he's always been pretty steady.

UGH!

He can not be a regular full time starter for reasons I already laid out previously in this thread.

I love Suter in the spot he's currently in, as a jack-of-all-trades. I agree that he should likely only see a team's order one time. Still a very valuable commodity though.

Suter isn’t it. And that’s okay. His value is in exactly how they’ve been using him.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

When given the chance he's done well overall. His career numbers as a starter would be better than most "#3" guys. Just saying.

Stats skewed though because he’s never been asked for 30+ starts in a season. He can get you through stretches with injuries though.

The tiebreakers are really convoluted and I don't know of a site that easily breaks them down. For example if the Brewers and Giants are both 30-30, they also have the same intradivision record. Then it's intradivision in the last 20 games. If the Brewers win tomorrow they could also finish tie with STL. So I really have no grasp on the Brewers actual chances.

No, the Brewers would have a better overall intradivison record than the Giants if they both finish 30-30.

The thing that might be messing you up is they both came into tonight with the same intradivision record, but for both to finish 30-30 it means the Brewers finished 2-0 and the Giants finished 1-1, thus the Brewers would move ahead of the Giants in the overall intradivision record.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
