2020-09-23: Brewers (Houser) at Reds (Bauer) [Brewers lose, 6-1 -- Offense gets dominated by Bauer; Houser’s struggles against left handed hitters continues]

Eye Black
Honestly it won't happen but Bauer is the kind of free agent that should have been pinching their pennies for. Take Braun off the books and that's a start. Add him to Burnes and Woodruff then trade Hader for a haul and you should be back in business.

Oh man ... I get what you are saying, but Bauer is probably looking at $35-$40 million + if he does this one-year deal thing that he's talked about.

Just think about all the great pitchers the Indians have traded away over the years. Pretty crazy how they can draft and develop pitching.

That is certainly true in a lot of cases for the Indians, but Bauer was the 3rd overall pick in the draft by the Diamondbacks and he wore out his welcome over reported differences of opinion with their organization staff over his throwing preparation and was traded to the Indians.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Well, at least Hiura made contact. Baby steps ...

Double post for a double play.

Hiura hitting 212 with a million strike outs is more depressing than the Yelich situation.

The strikeout rates between the two are close and we didn't guarantee Hiura $200 million.

Assuming the Royals can hang on tonight, it's time to be huge Twins fans!

Heck, let's be Pirate fans for the next couple days, and White Sox fans this weekend too. I know the Cubs likely have the division wrapped up, but I want their fanbase to suffer for as long as possible.

Also, go Padres this weekend! And Rays!

Yelich is 6 strikeouts behind Hiura and is hitting 210. And we just backed up the truck to pay him for the next 10 years. That is pretty damn depressing.

I think both suck pretty equally. It is really a miracle that this team is in playoff contention with their top two prospective bats looking like Chris Davis.

The Cubs crapping the bed in the final week of the season is a little fun to watch. Dropped another one to the lowly Pirates tonight. If they lose again tomorrow, and get swept this weekend by a very hungry White Sox team with a lot to play for, the Reds, Cardinals or Brewers could still theoretically catch them record-wise. Not sure what the tie-breakers are, but that would be crazy.

It would be the third year in a row that the Cubs have played horribly going down the stretch and into the playoffs apparently getting rid of Maddon didn't fix this issue.
