Given Housers platoon splits, I suspect the Reds will start as many lefties as possible. Winker, Moustakas, Votto, akiyama, Goodwin, Barnhart, and Glaves figure to be in there.

If I’m Counsell and Houser can get through the first time through the batting order scoreless I’m gonna be pretty aggressive getting Suter in there for the second time through.

I know they have a double header on Friday they need to contend with, but they can bullpen that thing together would be my hope.

Think Suter is lined up to pitch Friday.....doubt we see him tonight.

I so want to see some crazy, outside-the-box stuff. Counsell has been so "by the book" this year. It's time to get crazy. Heck, they can start Peralta on Friday. Lets see some originality and excitement. It's time.

If I see their lineup, I make a late "scratch" and start Claudio and then head to Peralta. Use Houser later in the game once they've bailed on a couple of LH hitters.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Freddy has been better vs lefties this season then Suter..........over 120 points lower in ops allowed.

I don't care about outside the box thinking........I want CC to do what he thinks is best.....not to do what fans think is exciting.

Outside the box was leading off Peterson and starting Sogard last night. People hated that.

99% sure I saw legendary Brewers (& Wisconsin sports) super fan FREEWAY weed whacking with a City of Milwaukee landscaping crew when I was stopped at a red light earlier today.

Can't imagine that random FREEWAY sightings are anything other than a good sign.

Also, Bauer has thrown twice before on 3 days rest and in neither start did he last long. 4 innings 2 ER in 2018, and 5 innings and 4 ER in 2019.

In the 2018 start for the Indians (Sept. 25 vs. White Sox) he threw 60 pitches, and in the 2019 start as a member of the Reds (Sept. 4 vs. Phillies) he threw 89 pitches.

One other bit of hope is Bauer has been slightly better on the road this year than at Great American Ballpark. The biggest difference is that he's given up more home runs at home (6 HR over 96 plate appearances) versus on the road (3 HR over 153 plate appearances).

By the way, all three of his road home runs were given up to the Brewers this year.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Not exactly the '27 Yankees. Disappointing that Braun isn't in the lineup in what is an extremely important game. Hopefully he'll be in the lineup for 4 of 5 this weekend (not expecting him to play in both double header games Friday). Also not sure why Peterson is getting the start over Taylor after Taylor hit a bomb yesterday.

So another start for Nottingham against a rightie......and we know he will also start tomorrow with Burnes pitching.

Obviously he won’t catch every game the rest of the way but it appears that CC has decided to go with the better defender as his starter since neither of them are hitting much. Nottingham’s power to run into one every once in awhile also probably a factor.

Narvaez has been pretty decent defensively this year. I don't think Nottingham is getting the nod for his defense. I think Nottingham is getting the nod because of the wet noodle that Narvaez brings to the plate every AB.

True that neither is hitting much but Nottingham is still sporting a respectable 805 OPS on the strength of his extra base hitting.

Because lineups are based on match-ups, not who had one good swing the day before.

I'm not sure if Jace Peterson's 2 hits in 3 career at-bats against Bauer is enough to base that on, but ok. Peterson isn't terrible I guess.

Very simple. Peterson is a LH hitter, Taylor is not.
