Short memories. He was the golden boy. Mostly because he played at Whitewater but the being white part doubled down on the love for that guy.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Jake Kumerow release by the Saints. Glad the front office is in charge and not our whiny fan base.

You whine far more about our fan base than I've heard about cutting Jake this year. :rolleyes

No kidding

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

We have a very good fan base.

Every fan base has fans that fall in love with their favorites, hate on drafts, and irrationally (or sometimes rationally) criticize the FO. Every, single, one.

All you can realistically ask for from a fan base is that they passionately support their team and fill the stadium. And we have that.

I remember there being a lot of love for the guy. I don't recall a whole lot of people(and none on this board) upset that they let go of him. It was almost immediately met with shrugs and the obvious justification that he was a 28-year-old who hadn't really done anything yet.

In fact, the most I've heard about him was Rodgers making a comment about the last time he spoke out for a guy, he ended up in Buffalo(which I took as tongue in cheek).

But sure, there was a disproportionate amount of love for the guy because he was a WR'er who played CFB in the same state.

It's also entirely possible if they'd have kept him, he have 30 catches and 400 or so yards as he would likely have been the #2 or #3 when Adams, Lazard and St. Brown were down at various points this season.

Very true. A City of ~100,000 not only supports its NFL team, it's NFL team is arguably the most popular in the world.

And it's not like we've got a bunch of bandwagon fans like a certain team that shall remain nameless(that once played in the very same division).

I’ve soured on the fan base because it turns out we are basically the footballs version of Cardinals fans. It’s been extremely disappointing over the past few years.

Not sure what you are expecting out of our fans. Sure some Cardinal fans are arrogant as with any franchise but there's no question that they are an accomplished franchise with a lot of history. If they want to take pride in that part of it like Packer fans do too, sure, go nuts. I absolutely have no problem with fans thinking that we're a better and superior organization to others. I feel that way, too.

I'm not going to tell someone how they should or shouldn't be a fan if they love their team. Hate a draft? Go ahead, vent. Want to see a coach or coordinator replaced? You have the right to feel that way.

When Packer fans start pelting players with beer bottles and cheering opposing team injuries then I'll start to be disappointed in our fan base. Until then there's nothing they've done to make me feel that way.

Plenty of fans cheer for opposing teams injuries. Packers are usually up there in fan arrests as well. Heck, Google Packer fan fight/arrest and there’s plenty there to keep anyone busy for awhile. That’s the thinking that annoys me. That this fan base is above that stuff.

No...I'm not going to google and seek out Packers fan fights. That's an infinitesimal pct of the fan base and a pretty ridiculous standard by which to judge the fan base.

Green Bay games compared to games in Philly, Chicago, Detriot...etc...are exceptionally laid back. Going to a FB game in Packers gear in Chicago and you're treated much-MUCH worse than a Bears fan in GB. In fact, this is actually an area I wish the fans would get better. Get louder, get more into the games. But we have an older fan base, so our games aren't as loud as KC's or Seattle's. Not harassing other fans of course, but just the energy levels.

I'd like to know which fan base doesn't have some idiots getting drunk and getting into fights. This started over the idea that there was this outrage when Kumerow was cut and the fans "whined" about it and now it's somehow morphed into how we're like the Cards of MLB(which I don't understand either) or it's about actively seeking out negative news stories about individual fans. You have to see how this is an AWFUL way to judge arguably the most popular team in the world, right?

For the record, I've been to ~100 Packers games, I've literally never seen a single fight. I've seen some obnoxious drunk people obviously and I've usually seen them thrown out rather quickly and the section applauding that ejection.

I've seen you use the Cards fans comparison several times(in fact, I THOUGHT you'd previously said you were not a Packers fan...a Brewers/Bears fan, but I may have you confused)...but it makes even less sense in the way you're now trying to use it. If you just said Packers fans have a sense of arrogance or entitlement due to their History, I'd be inclined to agree, but claiming they're "up there," inferring they're among the worst in cheering other players injuries and fights at the game....I don't think there's any truth to that beyond an anecdote or so.

My brother went to a Washington game in D.C. back in '10. Was surrounded by a group of "fans" in the parking lot who harassed him and kicked his car on the way out just for having Packer gear on. And Washington WON that game.

I was at Favre's first game against the Packers on MNF in '09. Was just absolutely viciously ridiculed on my way out. Nothing I could do but grit my teeth and keep walking.

I'm not saying opposing fans at Lambeau don't have bad experiences from time to time but in all my times at Lambeau I've never seen opposing fans harassed beyond a little mutual teasing.

I will say I've been to the new Busch stadium a couple times in Brewer gear and never once been treated disrespectfully by Cardinal fans.

Yeah, I don't get the Cardinal fan comparison either. The Cubs fans are 1000x worse.

Two things are being jumbled here. The Cards reference was to the fan base being arrogant know it alls that complain even though their front offices know better and continue to win consistently for decades. This wasn’t a comparison saying the Cards beat up opposing fans. Twitter/Facebook probably has done me in with how I view our fans.

The fan experience at Lambeau for opposing fans IS probably better than a lot of stadiums but to say there is nothing that ever occurs is just not correct. I’m sure there is plenty that occurs as Wisconsin sports fans are not immune to stupidity, especially with the amount of drinking that occurs. It was only brought up because Adam had mentioned that our fan base doesn’t throw beer bottles as the benchmark for a good fan base.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

We're the first game out of the gate next weekend. Nothing worse than waiting all weekend for your team to play. Also gives Donald and Kupp less time to get over their ouchies.

Agreed, plus obviously those of us who work Monday's love Saturday playoff games although Covid takes some of the fun out of it.

And if we lose we get an extra 24 hours to recover from depression and/or an alcoholic relapse, whichever malady affects you.

I would suggest that you stop coming to the Packer forum to troll then.

I'm serious. You have plenty of good posts but far too many that are simply stated to insult the actual fans that want to discuss Packer football. Racist undertones and Cardinal shaming to boot?

Please do spare us.

:laughing So you’re not even willing to admit that his “whiteness” didn’t play a role in the love he received while being a Packer? Just because maybe you don’t agree doesn’t mean it wasn’t true.

Seriously, no one really gives a crap about Kumerow enough to care what color he is. He got love because Rodgers loved him and that was enough for the casuals. You're reading too much into the comments on Facebook/Twitter/online blogs. 99% of dedicated Packer fan's didn't give Kumerow being cut a second thought.
