Packers 2020 team discussion

adambr2
The Saints/Chiefs is a big game for us this weekend. If the Chiefs win, we can afford to pooch the Titans game and still get the #1 seed (assuming we win the other two).

If the Rams or Seahawks run the table would we still hold the tie-breaker over them? (If we lose to the Titans.) No head-head, so NFC record is next right?

I believe you’re correct. 2 of the Packers’ losses would have been to AFC teams, thus they’d likely have the best NFC record in that scenario.

I know in the playoff scenario generator, we win all 3 way ties where we lose to the titans. Not sure about if we lose a different game.

Just checked, and we are the 3 seed if the loss is to either bears or panthers.

Did any one catch Aaron Rodgers on Pat McAfee this week? He sounded a little salty about not having a say in personnel decisions.

I also find it amusing that Pat McAfee badly wanted a NFL TV gig after retiring from the Colts (and didn’t get much interest from the networks), but now the main stream sports media writes stories based on content from his show.

So a Saints loss and a win over the Bears will clinch the #1 seed?

Sounds right.

I have a question. Does it matter to you if Rodgers wins the MVP? I couldn't care less. I understand the talking heads going on and on about who the MVP is, but what does it mean to you as a fan? And I am simply asking a question, not looking to argue or convince anyone.

Does it really matter? No, not really. It's cool to say that your QB won the MVP. It's nice to see the national accolades match up with what we've seen watching every game week to week.

I think it helps validate the average fan’s emotional investment in the team.

The Packer's run defense has been greatly improved lately:

- Barnes back and healthy; he is our most reliable MLB and best tackler.

- allowing Barnes/Martin/Kirksey some time to gel together

- Clark is starting to look like the Clark we expected and not Clark of the 1st month

- Keke has solidified our 3rd DL.

- Lowry has been much improved since all the above has helped.

And it isn't like the Titans don't have warts too. The Titan's rushing offense aligns with our Defensive weakness, but our Passing offense aligns with their defensive weakness too. The Browns put up 41 points on them.

Hard to complain about Linsley just because he’s missed time due to the injury. If he’s healthy, I agree.

But yeah, Tonyan and Crosby are major snubs. A nice reminder of how really good some of the Packers’ individual performances have been this year.

Yes it matters to me. I think it matters to most fans. You root for a player, you like to see that player recognized. We're also in the midst of a run in which we've had a back to back MVP in one sport, nearly had one in another sport if not for an injury, and Rodgers himself has won a couple in the last decade(plus Braun).

It doesn't take the sting out of losing in the post-season, but it's definitely something I care about. The people talking about the Pro-Bowl in this thread...if that matters to you, presumably, the MVP would.

None of us are on the Packers...which I'm sure comes as a surprise, but we live vicariously through this team in a way. It's OUR team, WE play the Titans this week...so I want OUR best player and arguably the best player in franchise history to be recognized for his greatness. Also...gonna make it a little tougher to move on from #12 after next season if he's just one year removed from winning an MVP, but if we do, even if he struggles next year, you can point to the fact that he was the MVP just last year threw for nearly 50 TD's, and 4 picks.

It's cool. It's not the main event, but it is cool.

Happy for Jenkins too. His versatility has been so great for the line, and he’s been really good since basically day one here.

That's the guy that surprised me. Seems like it takes OL a few years to get recognization unless they're tackles.

This guy hasn't even been able to establish himself at one position and he's already making it. Just an absolute HR in the 2nd round last year.

It's hard to complain with seven guys but Tonyan was robbed. Engram? Really?

50 more targets, 5 more catches and just ~25 more yards. Plus Tonyan is asked to do a lot more.

And Crosby...c'mon. You have to give SOME consideration not kicking in GB. Perfect this year on FG attempts, hit a 57 yarder two weeks ago in a big spot, hit a 51 yarder in the cold this past week that would have been good from 55-60.

But it's the Pro-Bowl. Let's see who makes the All Pro teams. Those are more important. I could see 3 maybe 4. Rodgers, Bahk, Adams and Alexander. Maybe Jenkins or Adams...but that's unlikely to me.

I have been a staunch supporter of Crosby for years, defending him against the people who for some reason think he's been incredibly average his entire career, but I agree with the Koo selection. He's been lights out for Atlanta. I ought to know. He's my fantasy kicker.
