2020-08-29: Pirates (Brubaker) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers win, 7-6 -- Hader blown save; Sogard hits walk-off HR]

Eye Black
The Counsell Sogard situation is in need of a dateline/60 minutes type investigation. It defies logic in any reasonable sense. Holt gets booted after zero time and for the second time in two yerars Sogard is wretched and continues to play just about every day. Where is the local media?? We need answers.

Hiura down to 226 with two more strikeouts. Mathias back on the bench again? There has to be more to this story. It's almost as if Counsell is tanking.

Hiura needs to play every day. He needs a new hitting coach to help him because the talent is definitely there.

Counsell should certainly never be sitting Hiura for a a career .750 OPS MiLB player who has never been super young for his level. Especially when that player hits from the same side of the plate.

Glad Mathias has been decent in his 28 PAs, but it is incredibly likely he is no good at all.

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that maybe he just wants to see Mathias in the lineup given how many dead bats are in it tonight.

I mean if we're gonna play matchups as our reason for benching nearly everyone responsible for a 9 run outburst the night before, you can't leave the dead bats in when they go to a lefty. With the new rules they can't even pull him, he has to face three batters. That was a massive asleep at the wheel inning.

I wasn't really calling for Hiura to be benched just shocked at how rough he's looking. Mathias should be in the lineup somewhere. Pick a spot in this horrific lineup. For that matter play Nottingham too. Can't be any worse than the guy hitting 168.
