Brewers game postponed. Discuss here - don't go overboard

I support the teams that came to the collective decision they wouldn’t play tonight. I was somewhat surprised by the teams that proceeded despite having players sit out this evening (Cubs Jason Heyward, Cardinals Dexter Fowler and Jack Flaherty).

Apparently Heyward was adamant that the rest of the team play.

It just blows my mind how far professional athletes, governors, and the general public in general are taking this without knowing much if any facts about the case. In some cases, people will straight up ignore the facts to continue to spew their agenda even if there are facts proving something otherwise. I find it baffling that opinions and assumptions are taken as gospel now by such a large amount of people instead of waiting for facts to come out. What happened to the days where facts were exactly that, facts? Even in some situations, the FACTS will still get dismissed because... well... that’s not what they want to hear or believe.

This... a million times. It’s really making me question how important sports need to be in my life and I’m pondering not renewing my 10-pack as a result.

It’s amazing that Colin Kaepernick took a knee exactly 4 years ago to the date. That was really the beginning of the current situation, no doubt.

I think the same parameters that lead to Kaepernick getting ousted from the NFL still apply today—there are a lot of people in power who make a lot of money from professional sports who are going to try and make this situation go away as quickly as possible. Which is why it has a good chance of being successful, because the movement is so big now that those phone calls are going to be to politicians asking for changes.

A few reactions...

- The Kenosha footage of the initial shooting was tough to watch... a hard tackle by officer would have been sufficient. Pulling the trigger in that situation looked to be beyond any type of reasonable force. Seven times? Terrible.

- Cancelling games for this? Yeah, someone is going to have to explain that to me slowly when still scheduling a double-header the next day.....a puzzler. I wonder what the majority of players did tonight with no game? I hope sleep to get ready for the double-header tomorrow.

- I worked in Kenosha at one point. In my estimation, it has more Cubs fans than Brewers fans.

- Finally, there are a lot of other injustices outside of race issues and police brutality that could result in missed games if this is the route professional sports are taking. It's a slippery slope.

I'd have a lot more respect for the Brewer players and organization if they contributed some of their wealth to rebuild the businesses in Kenosha that were destroyed by rioters and they acknowledged the need for all residents to follow instructions coming from police officers.

These virtue signaling things are the direct result of social media and social media warriors demanding immediate justice. Prime example, look what’s going on in Minneapolis right now. Not even a police involved incident, yet that is what was being blasted for hours over the Facebook and Twitter. A mandatory curfew is now in effect and the National Guard is on their way in once again to restore order. Social media literally is the downfall of our society

Can we at least wait for the facts to come out in the outrage du jour

A black man was shot in the back by police after months of protests for police brutality and the murder of George Floyd. Protests go on in the city where it happened. A 17 year old white nationalist drove up from Illinois with an AR-15 to "protect property" and shot 3 people, killing 2 of them. After he shot them he walked towards police cars with people pointing out that he had just shot others down the road. The police did not even stop and question him on the scene.

[sarcasm]But yes, let's wait for all the complexity of this to come out.[/sarcasm]
